Check out my First Grow. Any Suggestins?

I am currently trying to set up a grow cabinet I do have a 6 week Soil planted plant in there. I innitaly made the mistake of over watering it and its first set of leaves turned yellow and developed brown spots on them after letting the plant dry out for a few days i slowed down its water intake and the yellowing of leaves stoped. I am a first time grower and have done lots of resurch but need a few opinions and answers. I will be Groing Hydroponicly. i just ordered a deep water culture 5 gallon kit http://www.stealthhydroponics.com/product.php?xProd=93&xSec=61 . So below i have pix and specs of my set up and some questions below that. Any input would be gratly appreciated.
Space:
- 3'(W) 1' 8.5"(D) 5' 5"(H)
Lighting:
- A set timer 16 on / 8 off
- I have a sunleaves pulsar mini 250w two-watt
- Currently im using the 250watt MH Bulb (SOMH140)
Circulation: Regular 14" house fan
-I have a regular house fan for cirulation also on the timer
Nutrents:
-Botanicare Pure Blend Pro Grow (3-1.5-4)
-Botanicare Liquid Karma (.1-.1-.5)
-Botanicare Pure Blen Pro BLoom (1-4-5)
Water:
Distilled Water + Nutrients
Problems:
- I can't decide Mylar, Visqueen, or Flat white Spray Paint and yes price is an issue?
- The temp when the doors are closed skyrockets into the 100s-110s so i need an Air intake/exaust. Unfortunatly it needs to be really quiet the cabinent is in my bed room. (temps are fine right now because I leave the doors open and the temps are 85-88.)
- I cant seem to find my own answer as to how far away my light should be from my plant? (250watt MH/HPS)
- When i do hydro do i use all 3 nutrients or just one at a time?
- I will be using Distilled water only in the hydro too/
- http://cheaphydroponics.com/Merchant2/cfmcalc.htm states that i only need (29.7 CFM every min) according to the dimentions of my grow cabinet.
A. Does that sound about right?
B. If so could i just use this --->http://www.coolerguys.com/840556092612.html.
C. Will that be enough to keep the temp from reaching above 88 degrees
If not what would be sufficent enough to keep my temps down?

This is what i hope it all to look like eventualy

to hot temps should rarely go past 85f and should be kept at around 75 or so

Nice cabinet.
You need a small blower like a 90cfm will do.
The blower will exhaust all the warm air in there.
Put the blower on top.
Cut a hole on lower back wall too.
The hole will work as a passive intake.

should i use spraypaint? would that be ok or should i just spend the money on visqueen

Damn. I keep looking for a cabinet just like this. Can't get away with a tent in the house. Want to see how you build this out. One suggestion if you can is to put the intake and exhaust in the back. Will be more stealthy and most likely easier to cut.

no dont use spray paint!! .... use the black and white poly you buy from your local hydo store that is the best stuff i find

Cool concept bro.. I concur with Werry. Definitely don't paint or use aluminum foil... Had to throw that in there Get the most cost effective, thinnest stuff you can find. You already are running into heat issues from the get up so ant sheet material that has padding or insulation will add to the heat most likely.
The other thing you might want to tend to is the light creeping out of the doors. If it can get out... it can also creep in when you don't want it to. I feel it's just good practice and less stress on the girls If it's a complete light/dark scenario... Stealthy tho! DIY all the way bro.

i just bought a small fan and some ducting the fan is 100cfm i should get them next week ill post pix.. im gonna install in the top its gonna be flush so you cant see it

yea im trying yo find the best way to kill the light from coming out of the cracks i think im gonna try some weather striping first. Ill post pix next week when its all finished.

Are you going to remove that middle shelf?

Yea, if you could cut out the middle half you'd have a lot more space to work with there man, make it all one big enclosure... your gonna have to either grow really short plants, lst every day, or give yourself a little more room to work with, think of the extra room to grow!

Yes i planned on removing the middle shelf but not untill the rest of my stuff comes in i just recived my DWC kit in the mail today... and just ran into a decent amout of money so im gonna spend the money on the visqueen for that walls of the cabinit.

I have my exauset coming in the mail later this week after that i think im all set. ill post more pics this week when all is said and done

Any other suggestions guys i would really appreciate it.

I would like to buy some white widow for the dwc but buying seeds online seems kinda sketchy. Not sure what the risk is if any? MA, USA


Hows she (Bag Seed) Looking to you guys shes been in the soil for aprox a 5-6 weeks?

Ripped out that middle shelf today. Also went and bought some mylar (it was cheeper and better for the plant) and also got a pully/ratchet system for the light.
Temps went down 5-8 degrees with removing that shelf it made more room for the air to move around.

Now im just waiting on the exauset to come in on wed or thurs.

Starting to look sexy. Curious to see what you do with the front door. Are you going to hang a blanket or weather proof/seal it. Also want to see what your temps are going to be like with the HID. Seems like a good place to run a cool tube. Are you making a passive intake?

i DID USE WEATHER STRIPING AND IT CUT THE LIGHT OUT 100% I HAVE TO GET MORE TO DO THE BOTTOM DOORS.. THE DOOR IS WARPED SO I MAY NEED TO TEST MY CARPINTRY SKILS.

so i tink im gonna veg her for 8 more weeks then start flowering her. seeing shes a bag seed im gonna use a cfl... reason being is because i am goning to have my white widow growing in a DWC and that is my priority plant. I cant wait for thoes seeds to get here. I bought 5 white widow feminized and also bought 5 short rider feminized. Never had short rider but the WW blew my mind.

aprox 7-8 weeks old She has 8 new sets of leaves that apeared out of know where they werent there yesterday when i went to work in the am but when i looked this morning they were there. I took the pix below under a CFL so you dont get the wavey look in the pic due to the MH light. I think shes absolutly beautiful but im curious as to wether she is indica-sativa which one she resembials the most. Obviasly there is konw way to get an exact stran just looking for any opinions or extreame guesses again she is a bag seed.

Being it is bag seed I would almost guarantee that it is just some random indica-sativa hybrid. All we can know for sure is that it definitely has some indica in it because of the thick width of the leaves, that is a indica cannabis strain trait.
I came up a while back with a theory that I still think holds true, that all bag seeds or mass amounts of cannabis you find on the street is a hybrid that is mostly indica due to plants of that variety usually being shorter and high yielders. I mean, if I were gonna try and grow a few tons of weed to sell I sure would grow what I could get the most out of and in the smallest amount of space, wouldn't you? Thats your indica dominate strain.
