Checking soil ph

so i bought a soil ph tester and it doesnt work at all and i also have GH up and down kit with the test solution. is there any way i can check the soil ph with this because i dont have the ability to go buy another tester.

Just make some proper pH water and then water the plant with it, and then check what the runoff says...and then you water with the pH of water that would get that number closer to the ideal...

Some good pH buffers for soil are greensand, peat moss, coco coir, cotton burr, and dolomite lime, not to mention the added micronutes they will add to the soil... And some vermiculite, and perlite are also good soil additives for not only water retention, but also helps to keep root systems a lil more oxygenated and all... These would all be good soil amendments to have just to help keep the pH in check, and aiding the water-retention and oxygenation, by way of "spacing out the rhyzosphere" over time...
