Checking Temps online via Phone/PC

Hello all, new grower here with a temp equipment question. Looking for something that will give me temp readings of my room via iPhone app or at least through a website. Only thing I can find so far is off Amazon for 60 and based on reviews you have to download a spreadsheet to see the readings, it requires a paid subscription after the first year of use, and requires that you plug a device directly into your wireless network that has been reported to slow traffic. Looks like I may just go with an EcoPlus or Activeair if I can't find something that'll give me some peace of mind about these erratic temps but I wanted to ask all of you first.

You might want to check out the Weather Direct TX-60. It has temp/humidity and a soil/hydro temp probe. Depending on your grow room location you may need a repeater for your wireless internet signal. All you do is register your devise and you log into the weather direct website and you can view your info. You set the devise to download the info as frequently as you want, I went every half hour. You can also view a spreadsheet that has the total log info. I have found it to be pretty useful. Good luck

Hello cassdog, thanks for the reply but that is actually the exact model/product that I am speaking of in my original post . I am looking for something that does not have a spreadsheet limitation or subscription fee. I'm thinking that technology hasn't caught up yet, I guess we can't ask for too much convenience.

there must be PC guys who monitor their case temps remotely and know how to do it on the cheap. I'll have to search around for a DIY

Same, I'm thinking it can't be that hard to somehow get a digital sensor to report to an app that would then alert/notify based on the readings. As far as PC's, I know quite a bit about them and have never encountered a remote temp.

Do you really NEED to monitor your temps remotely is the real question.

I don't pay any subscription fee with the weather direct unit. When you log in you get the current info and the data log is available if you want to check past data.

There's a couple systems that were in HT magazine... like Stealth Grow, yanno, the company that makes the LED grow lights? They have a sweet remote controlled, automated system starting at about $1000. You can view temps, pH, cameras, and such in your grow room from a smartphone or tablet. You can also buy temp/humidity monitors that hook up to a wireless network, and you can save or download data to a smartphone, tablet, etc.

i use a wifi web camera that has tilt, pan and zoom. i access it with my phone or tablet and can see everything going on in the room. i also have a wifi to infrared adapter that allows me to changed temps via my tablet.

I've got a perfect way, you have a cheap laptop like a acer one, setup the webcam in front of your gauges/monitors, then you can get a app to watch your cam for free, turn it on and instant results, and you can also see if your lights are on or off.

Nice you had the same thought except I never thought about a movable cam itself, I'm going to start creating something like this but that monitors the lights, humidity, temps, etc..

I've got a better idea, just install a dvr with cameras, you can get a android application to watch them, have one in front of your gauges and be able to move the camera with your phone.
