Checking trichs advice needed

Hey Everyone!

I'm just finishing week 8 of flowering (9 since 12/12) on some TGA Jillybean. This will be my first harvest. I'm looking for amber, and not seeing ANY. Trichs have gone cloudy. 90% of pistils have colored and are receding. Calyxes are swelling, etc. But not a drop of amber.

Just want to make sure I'm not screwing something up. I bought a 30x loupe that has a light on it, and the light is a little on the blue side. Will that change the color of the trichomes and negate the amber?

Thanks!

No your fine if your seeing cloudy trichs it won't be too much longer and the amber ones will be there. I'd check in another 3 days and see if they have started to amber.

kind of hard without a pic if you have some let us see we can better judge what's going on.

Ok, thanks! Funny that you say three days -- that would put me exactly at the breeder's recommendation. I'm going to borrow a proper camera this weekend so if I'm still not seeing any amber I'll be able to take a high-resolution photo, blow it up and post it here.

I just wanted to make sure that the blue light on the magnifier wouldn't make it hard to see the amber -- now that I know it won't, I'll just be a little more patient.

Thanks again!

in my experience it always take a little longer then you expect, don't cut to early, tho clear thrics is what your looking for, amber is THC being broken down, but agin its a matter of tast, I also notice that they continue to Amber up doing the dry/cure

after a few runs you should know when to chop with out a microscope, after all your window for harvest is usually 1-2 weeks

Yea once you get the when do I pick part down you'll never forget. my Scandinavian friend gave you a nice chart to go by(he knows his stuff too) and soon enough like he said you won't even need a scope you'll just look and be like ok that's done. You'll notice a trend of how the plants look when they are reaching maturity vs how they look in other stages of the flower period.
keep up the research and don't forget an unheard mouth never gets fed, so way to ask for help brutha!

Yeah, I'm looking at all the pics of "ready" colas, and mine are close, close, close. As soon as I see amber, chop chop! YAY!!!!

hehe yea..

and btw

I did of course mean cloudy thrice .. not clear..

when harvesting on thrics, I usealy cut when I see the fist amber, then I have like 80% cloudy and 20% clear, at the end of the cure I mostly have all cloudy with maybe 5-10% amber and that is about my tast of smoke, to early smoke "only" give you a head high and maybe a headache IMO trying to get stoned, by smokeing more and more

agin a matter of taste, but that I cant advice you on, need to find out for yourself, can always do a early harvest and a late if you have more then one plant going and see what you like the best, that way you might also be able to let the rest finish wile you have fun with your fist plant ;)

I think for my first time running a strain it makes sense to me to go middle of the road -- just to see what nature intended. Then I'll fool around with it. However, there are so many strains I want to try that I'll more than likely just try a new strain with reportedly more of the characteristics I seek at the time.
