Wow.... subcool and TGA seeds have got another strain in the High Times Top 10 Strains Of The Year. Last year was the Vortex now this year with Chernobyl. Great Job first of all to sub....
I always look forward to the Strains of the Year issue every year and have started to notice a little trend... I mean no offense to any of the breeders out there that create these amazing strains; I know how hard it is. That being said, High Times Top 10 strains of the year is kind of like the top 10 hottest girls or the top 10 coolest guys... Its all celebritys that win the spots. Non-popular strains from no name breeders are ever included in the list. It just seems like its always the same seed companys or the same breeders that win. And i know for a fact that Subcool and Danny Danko(senior cultivation editor, High Times magazine) are buddys. Why would'nt he put his friends stain in the mag?.... shit
There are strains out there no one has ever herd of and are dank, dank, dank....
Again no offense to anyone.. im just talkin...Any thoughts people.....

ya you are right, its all subjective and mearly a guide and not a end all on what good strains are out there. I still like the classics, OG and WW even though I guess the Hazes are the rage now.

I tend not to go for "cup winning" or "top 10" strains as these things are probably either set up or the #1 postion bought & paid for by the winner!! Just me thinkin out loud here but think about it, GHSC keep winning the cup year after year and then you read about these strains being grown in other growers journals and they're havin nothing but problems with them!! I guess you can't trust everything you read in a magazine/forum.... corruption and bullshit is everywhere esp in the mari-jo seed buisiness!!

I had some here in San Diego but it wasn't as good as the guy made it sound. I don't think it was grown right though, it wasn't very dense, unless that's the way it's supposed to be

the great thing about how the mag does things is that the information is available to everyone and so are the strains. i agree it sux not to hunt down the heirloom strains that are out there but how do u expect to get me that cut? and even if u could how would u notify me? you would go to the mag and say yo check this shit.. and i always say if u want something grown right, well u know the rest.. what do u grow? seed/clone? in/out? soil/less/hydro? top three favorite strains? > pink lady, seed, in, less, i dunno, cuz im running some new gear that looks like my personal best.. qt,pl,dp..tga thx haha-

I agree. I was reading Skunk magazine about 6 months ago and came across a strain called Black Grimlin bred by Joey Potseed. It sounded amazing, was listed as a strong medical strain, supposedly smells like sugar and blackberries and tastes of blackberries. I searched the internet but can't find the seeds anywhere. it would be great if they included strains that weren't just "mainstream" strains by popular breeders but who cares how good a strain is if you can't get the seeds.

I have found some of the most potent and flavorful cannabis were grown by people in their own homes and farms and not huge warehouses.
If oyu are ever in the UP of Michigan try and find some Mulberry From Malamute, gr8 stuff
