I know everybody is saying that the Chinese stuff are crap, but I found something that looks like it might work pretty well.

Link: http://pdgrow.en.alibaba.com/product/60005655615-800278807/Aeroponics_System_New_Generation_270w_LED_Grow_Light_for_Greenhouse.html

Can you please take a look at it! Tell me what you think. I am in contact with the supplier, so if there is anything I could ask them for to make sure that this is worth it, or not, please write here. It's a good deal if it works well.

Edit: I am waiting on more info on the light from the producer. Lets hope that they have tested it and are willing to give me some numbers. ;)

You're first sentence answered your question, leave it at that and buy something good. Don't knowingly deprive yourself of a better product, it will pay itself off after first harvest and last for many more.

If everything in the product details is true (osram, cree, bridgelux) and depending on the price, you might have a good find there.

I know a lot of you have a strong opinions on the subject. Just lets say for the sake of argument that this (products of this company) is an exception. Please don't run by this without giving it at least a glance. As I said I am gathering info on LED lighting for a project I want to start. My research is not limited in this forum only. Sorry to disappoint but I contacted suppliers of different light, yes Chinese, and yes from Alibaba, but let's be honest everything you buy, and say its the good stuff, comes from there. Anyway, I requested a datasheets on a few products that are available from this company. Now I have one that is for a different product. I will have one for this particular (mentioned) one maybe tomorrow. I know this might be "crap" but let's not depend on our prejudges. So please take an objective look at the information, and make an opinion for yourselves about the product described.

This is the info in the last e-mail I got from them:
"...

Attached is the datesheet , Par value , lighting coverage and growing pictures

Kindly have a check

Take growing medical plants as an example :

We could gain 2304g for CF-900W

That means 2304g / 900w= 2.56g /W

Compared with other grow lights in the market , They maximum got 1.8g /w

Commonly , 1.2g/w ~1.5g/w

And the flower bud is not big

Attached is pictures for the dried product we harvested

Kindly have a check

Best regards
...
"

I have attached the datasheet file.

If you nee more info please ask, I will make sure you get it!

Buy what (YOU) can afford.
I started out with the cheap crap and it worked fine. I then purchased a CLW Solarflare 220 . My only regret was I wished that instead of buying 3 lights I would have put all the money on 1 light...........but at the moment of my first purchase my money was limited. So with that being said I go back to my original comment. BUY WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD.

It's not about affordability. I really want opinions on the products I have found. It may be cheaper to a "real alternative", but that's is not the real point. I want to buy good lights, and on the way to them if I can find good and cheap once I'll be twice as happy. That's why I want here people to tell me what they think about what I show them as info, and not post like "it's chinese so it's crap". I am really hoping that despite the majority of opinions in this forum, people can look more objectively at the info and give me feedback. Who knows we all might find and alternative to the "very expensive real alternative".
Cheers!

I agree with the OP that just cause it comes from china doesn't mean it is shit. Its ok for them to make the cobs and then slap them in a box and call it "made in america"?
There must be a chinese company that has higher ethics, a better english translator, and full open honesty on what the components are. But then you probably will find that they are playing that to their advantage and the price discounts won't be so deep.
Maybe it's the FUK Yu Lighting Co :eyesmoke:

You'll never get a consensus here. For every pro there will be an equal amount of cons.......research is your friend and at the end you'll still be unsure but at least you'll be informed. Purchase what you want to.....I'm still using the cheap lights I first purchased that were belittled by some and praised by others.....What I'm trying to convey to you is Buy WTF you want and don't worry about anyone else after all its your money and it'll be your product!
Good luck to you my friend

That light is a diamond in the rough....there's a lot of crap out there but i think you sifted through and found a winner. Took a lot of scrolling to be sure but thats what it takes to find the one honest lamp seller on alibaba. Buy with confidence my friend, you earned that light.

Edit: looked through the ds/parts list again just to make sure and yes, with those kind of numbers your yield should be.......
...about a pound.

'What' exactly makes it 'look' like it might work well? This is a genuine question, without knowing more what's making you consider buying this light? What about it appeals to you? How does this one stand out from the rest of the Chinese panels?

I just thought I'd let you know, most on this board aren't against Chinese panels because they're made in china. It's because they are usually very crappy led panels. They're typically over driven and under-cooled. Most use generic epistar or worse LED's, even if they do use 'name brand' led's they're usually bottom bin components. The warranty is usually dodgy if you get one at all.

That's not to say they won't grow a plant. They will indeed, but so will incandescent bulbs if you got enough of them. See what I'm getting at? I'm sorry to inform you, but there is no secret spectrum recipe. It's a long disproven myth that only red and blue photons are needed to grow plants. No 'spectrum' is going to overcome getting the required number of photons/s/M^2. The Chinese panels are usually very crappy at converting electrical energy into photons compared to HID or cree/bridgelux COB's
