when i run out of smokes i take a straw or pencil or such and hold em like they are cigs to keep my hands busy. stay strong bro, your doing good. the first week is undoubtedly the worst. (had to go w/o cigs for a week and 1/2.)

Keep it up! If I can quit them, you can too. I did the "cut down" method when I quit 13 years ago. Once I got down to 5 a day I quit cold. The first weeks was rough. Carried a shaved down pencil for a few weeks and would do push ups instead of smoking. By the second week I was physically in the clear (no need for the pencil or anything). Still had to steer clear of my smoking friends for about a month.

Anyway, you are doing great and your body will appreciate it!

That will pass after a few days and then will come the "hacking shit up" phase...warn your friends as it can be pretty gross.

ROFL get married- thats how I quit! My wife hated (and still does) tobacco smoke. I married her cause she was the only extremely hot chic I could ever get to wake n bake with me (thats a prerequisite for me LOL!)..
Anyways, I smoked about a pack a day for a few years strong, when I met her I was already down to about 1/2 pack, but the support from her helped. The trick is what has been said here- in simple terms you need to occupy your mind when you get a craving for a cig... Find something you can do that doesn't require you to smoke or where you can't smoke even. It helped me!

Ahhh... I managed to quit a year ago. From half pack a day to ZERO. It was hard the first 2 weeks, but then it went alright. But my wife smokes! I thought I would put a good example to her and make her quit too. It was a pain in the ass to come home from work (biking) and smell all the house stinking like tobacco.

I asked... no, I begged! for her help! Cause it was hard to quit! I needed her to help me out and quit with me... or at least avoid smoking IN the house (we have a huge terrace where our pot garden is)... but in never happened... She kept smoking in the house as always...

And guess what? After a year of zero smoking... Im back at it :(

Yup you're right. Now we just argued about that issue... she's like "it wasn't my fault you smoked again", and of course it wasn't. All I'm saying is she never helped me out.

This quitting smokes is harder when all your friends smoke, and so does your partner, and most people around you. Indeed tobacco smoke is HELL!

I don't like it, and still I do it... Good luck y'all!

All this talkin bout cigarettes is making me wanna smoke, the only way anyone is gonna ever quit you have got to get it in your mind "no more "and for the young gentleman who is trying to give it up.Kudos to you for attempting to ,but just remember this it's not gonna get any easier the longer you put it off.

good point. it really doesnt seem to get much easier.. also, do your lungs really notice a difference between 5 cigarettes a day and 25? i feel like that would be killing me just as much..

oh and, 46&2 are just ahead of me :o

Nah man... it suck if you smoke twice a day or 20 times a day. Its when you completely stop smoking when it makes a difference, I swear!
