Subscribed. Been doing research on nutrients in preparation for my first grow which I will be starting in a couple of weeks. I had bought Sensi Grow A/B and after reading your Dyna-Gro vs AN comparison I'll be picking up some Grow and Protekt. It's funny because when researching the AN on their website, the descriptions of their products reminded me of the websites that try to sell you those get rich quick schemes. I should have made the connection then. Anyway I like your philosophy on nutrition and will be modeling my grow after your Pro-Mix implementation. This thread has been very helpful in giving me a plan for a feeding schedule starting point. Thanks!
Companies like AN who claim to be 'cannabis specific' have done their best to over-complicate an otherwise easy process by convincing first time growers they need a dozen different bottles to grow a plant. That being said, I've seen Sensi work in the dirt and in hydro. DG works too and it's cheaper, pH stable, and easier to use. Given the plant food options out there, there is absolutely no reason to buy over-priced snake-oil fertilizer.

DG is good stuff but it's not a guarantee. One still must manage a proper environment while knowing when and how much to water and feed. It's my opinion that our role as growers is to get out of the plant's way and to do our best to minimize any and all stresses on this plant. Only then will the true genetic potential of our strains shine through.

Thanks for following along, good luck!

Day 37 for lady number 2. She's still holding on to that peach/fruit cocktail aroma. I probably could have done a better job at trimming some of the lower branches which may have bulked up the top a touch.

This is plant number 3 at day 38. She's my 'WTF' pheno as each time I look at her I'm like '...what the f*ck'. Her resin content is ridiculous and she's still smelling of oranges.

Day 38?!?!?

Lady number 4 at day 40 today. Beautiful smells of orange and peach!

The WTF pheno is ridiculous, but all are looking good! What was the strain again? I know it's on here somewhere, but I didn't wanna go through all the pages.

P.S. I like the True Value buckets, lol. The great lone star state. I hope we jump on the MMJ train here pretty soon. I don't really want to leave...

They're trucking along here, slowly adding weight and developing unique scents.

Plant number 2 is at day 44 today. She's ripening very quickly as there are a lot of red/brown hairs and she still smells of peaches. She may get chopped in the 50 day range, we'll see.

Plant 3 is my 'holey moley' pheno and she's at day 45 today. She smells of oranges and resin.

Plant 4 smells the best out of the bunch at day 47. Cherries, pears and oranges, she's quite complex actually.

HB, Are "foxtails" a genetic trait of Sativa dominant strains? I had a few of them on a couple girls last year that were supposed to be 100% Indica. They were rather short and bushy with pretty solid nugs, but all three had a few foxtails just on the terminal buds At the time my HPS bulb was nearing its demise so I just attributed them to lack of intense lighting.

Foxtails are common in sativa-dominant plants but like you I have also seen them start on indica-dominant plants late in flower, just not to the degree that they occur on sativas. And I can't be sure it's still not something in the genetics either. I will say this in regards to our conversation over PM, feeding plants what they want (not what we want) can minimize foxtailing. I for one don't see foxtails as a sign that something is going wrong as I believe them to be 90% genetic.

The end is near for plants two and three but plant four has a couple weeks left. We've started to get some yellowing from the light and while i'd normally raise the lights during these last weeks, I can't in this area.

Plant two is at day 51 and smells of cherries. She'll probably get chopped when she needs watered again.

Plant three is at day 52 and her days are numbered. She is taking on an earthy smell which is mixed with that fruit cocktail aroma that she had early on.

Plant 4 still has some time left. She's fruity and complex, I can't wait to taste her!

I figured plants #2 and #3 would get chopped this week and they did. I thought plant #4 would go longer but she ripened up pretty quick and is in the process of getting chopped today. She also 'nannered' on me pretty bad towards the end so I guess I'm lucky that she's ready to come down.

Next week's update will be some dried nug shots.

Chemdog x Alpha Diesel x C99 Smoke Report

This cross seemed to have a lot of Cindy influence as all three girls were surprisingly energetic and 2 of the 3 females were fruity in their aroma and flavor (cherries/peaches, raspberries). The plant that I liked the most was more earthy and only slightly fuely yet despite the difference in aroma and flavor, the buzz was similar across the board. Overall, this is a fast-flowering cross that has a very positive, mood-elevating, energetic buzz with great potency and solid flavors. Great daytime smoke that'll stick with you for hours to come without dragging you down. Well, it may take you down eventually but it'd take a lot of bowls.

Plant 2

Second strongest? Pleasant flavor (stone fruit and earth) with a buzz that's more on the body side (not sedative) and slightly stoney. Smells like peaches and cherries and the strength of the aroma is above average.

Plant 3 (my favorite hence the detail below)

Good body buzz and really good head. Strong yet pleasant. It's not a strain you might 'wig-out on' but instead just get exceptionally high. It lacks that blistering intensity but it'll still grip you pretty hard. I agree with the feeback from a few of the patients that mentioned she'd be great daytime smoke. I really like sativas, this isn't a sativa of course but the high is surprisingly 'up' and functional (70/30 sat/indie?). Definitely a positive, mood elevating strain. I don't get a lot of comedown either. While I've never had the real Cindy, I suspect that the influence is pretty strong with this cross. Long lasting, strong, positive medicine here. I should add that one of my patients said it's the best medicine I've ever given him

The aroma of this one is earthy, fuely with a hint of fruit, though earth is the dominant aroma. The aroma of this pheno is the mildest of the 3 girls here and as a whole isn't strong. Her flavor is good though, thick, coats the mouth with a sweet earthiness.

Another note about this pheno is that she takes forever to dry. She's so damn resinous that the flowers are perpetually sticky (almost moist) and I'm the kind of guy who like his meds on the dry (yet cured) side of things.

Plant 4

Best taste, raspberries, with a motivating buzz if you're a motivated person. She retained that fruit cocktail aroma but when cured there is a tart or subtle sourness there too. Very pleasant, best of the bunch! This was a close second among my patients.

Hey HB, I have taken the time to read through all of your journals the past few days. And you convinced me to switch from House and Garden to Dyna Grow. I've only been using these nutes for 2 weeks and already notice a difference. Thanks for all the great info. I was trying to PM you about your findings on the great white experiment but I cannot figure out how to PM on this site.
