There have been 154 mass shootings so far this year alone as of August. 24 of them were at school.

Hundreds dead right there and not a single one had anything to do with gangs or drugs.

We've lost more school kids so far this year than Military personnel.

YOU do the research.
In the US we classify mass shooting as 2 or more people which the vast majority are gang related. Any school shooting is horrific but when 100% of those kids are on some kind of psychotropic drug why aren't parents up in arms about these drugs? Maybe because they also use it on their kid as a baby sitter.

Last year there was 32,000 gun deaths which to me is a lot. Once you look at the numbers though it's pretty easy to see why its incredibly unlikely that you would ever be involved in a gun related death.

19,200 are suicides
960 accidents
1280 justified
10,560 homicides (8448 gang related)
That leaved 1,712 who were victims of gun violence out of almost 400 million.

So if you're not in a gang, don't commit suicide and don't commit a crime there is a
.000008% chance of dying from a firearm.

I realize it doesn't fit the narrative but that is the facts and there are at least 30 other countries where you have a much higher chance of getting killed by a gun, some of which guns are strictly forbidden.

Odds are higher that you'll shoot yourself by accident than you successfully defending yourself with your gun. .

Odds are higher that if you try to use your gun to protect yourself the perp will kill you than you successfully defending yourself..

Most of the time when a gun is used against anybody it is on the owner by the owner.

Yeah, guns are great. The suicide part is ok by me.
The suicide part is fine with me. The other parts of your post are complete bullshit though. Do you have any idea how many people defend themselves or their families successfully as compared to having the gun turned on them or accidentally shooting themselves. Keep in mind not all successful saves involve an actual shooting.

You should sit in on a woman's CCW group and listen to some of their stories. It's not only sad but extremely scary how many guys are just wackos.

I would love to know how you are going to take away everyones guns. I'm pretty sure the criminal element which is the largest problem will surely love to come turn in their guns since they are now illegal. Loons

Since you are 43 times more likely to kill your self or a family member than to stop an intruder, I say we just let the gun owners kill themselves.

It’s a promising tactic given the massive rates of suicide among white males

We can also do what every other country with gun control has done and that will work too

My thoughts on the Moore video. It looks to me that President Obama had the most impact {in the general election} when he pretended to drink the water . . . . . . . ..

Obama didn't make many political mistakes, but that was a big one.

Yes, yes, I get that all those dead people don't matter to you because most are black gang members or you'd like to think so.

Before you quote numbers like that, you should cite your source. Your numbers don't add up to what CDC reported, but whatever.

In recent years, about 1300 children die due to gun accidents each year. 5800 more are wounded to the point of needing hospital care. I know you don' t care about that, because it wasn't your kid but every one of these accidents are unnecessary. Why don't you gun nuts lock those things up?

The most obnoxious part of your diatribe is how you treat this all as something that is completely ordinary and understandable. To most in the world you would be sound insane.

United States: 3.2 gun homicides/100,000
Canada: 0.5
Portugal: 0.5
Ireland: 0.4
Italy: 0.3
France: 0.2
Denmark: 0.2
Australia: 0.2
Germany: 0.1
Norway: 0.1
United Kingdom: 0.04
Japan: 0.01

https://everytownresearch.org/gun-violence-america/#America

3.6 gun homicides per 100,000 people compared to our nearest competitor, Canada, which has 0.5.

In a population the size of the US,

3.6/100,000 translates to 11,000 dead due to gun homicides (roughly checks with the numbers you cited)
0.5/100,000 translates to 1,600 dead due to gun homicides.

Roughly 9400 more dead per year due to gun homicides than Canada or 26 people every day would be alive if we had the same rate as Canada. Perhaps ten times more injured.

Dude this is carnage that is completely unnecessary.

I totally agree it’s unnecessary but to run around believing you are unsafe is just plain ludicrous unless you are a gang member or are involved in illegal drugs. If you don’t do those two things you are less likely to get shot in the US than you were 50 years ago but by watching the news you would never believe it.

The one thing you got right is yeah I don’t care if two gang members kill each other.

You gun nuts have a hard time reading. Or perhaps you just used a logical fallacy to divert, doesn't matter. I never once said the streets of the US are unsafe because of gun violence although some streets most definitely are.

Compared to every industrialized, high income country, the US has thousands of unnecessary dead and injured every year due to gun homicides and accidents. It's completely possible for you and I to agree that you can have your gun and those thousands still be alive. If you say we have to have those deaths so that you can have your gun then we have a disagreement.

Only 33K die by guns per year. Yet cars kill 40K. Cars are dangerous. Maybe we should have to get a license to operate one.

Other things that kill more than guns. Drug overdoses, diabetes, cancer and heart disease.

"maybe we should get a license to operate one" , exactly right

Maybe we should be responsible for safe storage and to demonstrate proficiency in safe operation of one as well. All cars have a VIN and the sale of every car is tracked too.

The analogy of disease with gun homicides isn't very good. Suicide, maybe. I'm all for gun owners using their guns for suicide, if that's the way they want to go. Maybe even a suicide special where the gun is designed for that specific use.

88% of Americans own vehicles.

20% own guns.

Guns out kill cars by a factor of 4.

For every one car accident that kills one person, one asshole with a gun kills 4 people.

Dumbass.

Yep, as long as we don’t count all that gun violence there’s less gun violence
