I need to get away from buying seeds every 90 days i rub autos. my germination rate is poor. I am spending to much on seeds.

I need your advice on what to do. i grow in 5gallon buckets and a few smart pots.i have four lights three 600 and a 1000.

What do i do to make my mother clones stay small just cut the top off? what light cycle do i keep them on? can you help me out?

Mommas stay under veg light cycle which is 24 hrs on *OR* on 18hrs / off 6hrs (matter of preference or budget but both work to keep from flowering, and promote growth of vegetation.
How many mommas/clones you plan to do will determine what lighting you will need but it sounds like you probably have what you need in almost any case with a 600W (even better if dimmable).
As for "topping" your mommas, you just cut off the very top node. I would suggest looking up topping on here before trying it just to get an idea of what I'm talking about. Keep in mind this will help you keep her height under control and yeild more spots to clone from. Every time you "top" your plant correctly, you will double how many tops you cut off (perfect if you plan to continue cutting clones from her every run).

To establish a mother plant & keep her going will require you have a small veg space to run either 18/6 or 24 hrs continuously. You can keep a mom in veg with just a couple cfls and keep topping her & taking cuts as you need them. You can leave her in a small pot to keep her small: I keep mine in 3g smart pots.
If you veg under those 600s or 1k your mom will grow really fast; maybe too fast but if a perpetual grow is your goal those will work too. I like to pop feminized seeds to eliminate the need to guess & then I take clones off of each one & drop them into my cloner just before putting the plant into the bloom room once they are vegged to size.
An aerocloner is one suggestion I would make & you should build one DIY out of a bucket or tote bin- very easy and you'll get fast rooting clones. I kept a strawberry sour diesel in veg for a year & 1/2 & took tons of clones from her but after awhile I dunno the bud kinda got weak so plan to renew your mothers every 6 months to avoid this.

No one mentions that you can't mother an auto?
That's what I was gonna say if you have autos then it a waste to clone because their life is on a timer lol. Photo you can all day long hope this helps
I got my an electric propagator and that took my chances of germinating and cloning.

You could turn one of your grows into a seed grow. Turn one of your females male and let them seed. That's how feminized seeds are made. Then you'll be set for seeds for some time. Just bleach water mix to clean the grow area. Don't want pollen sticking around for the next crop

I was gonna make a clone then disrupt it's flowering hours and make it hermie would that work aswel?

For photo or auto? They aren't guaranteed to hermie at that point.

Look up using gibberalic acid version and coloidal silver method

Good call, I didnt pay attention that he was running autos.
I'd get away from the autos personally. They tend to be less of a producer on average vs reg/fem seeds that arent autos.
Plus you can clone, mother and breed yourself if/when you choose.

Yup. There's only one reason I want to seed out auto flowers. Seed bomb the city. Anywhere they don't keep mowed down. Do it with feminized seeds in the spring and shouldn't have pollen by the time photos start to flower.

Whatever doesn't get found and destroyed, the homeless can have. Don't say I don't do charity work. Ha

Planters at government buildings would be a favorite target of mine

Sounds like a high power bill to me. Female seeds are cheap.

Figured since the op was running autos all this time & popping all them seeds it was understood you can't clone em. I hate autos for this reason. Wouldn't colloidal silver help make more auto seeds that you can't clone or keep as a mama plant?
Fem or even reg seeds are a better option IMO. Maybe 2 years ago I ordered 2 ten packs of fem seeds in addition to the freebies & I still have a few beans left yet to pop. Once you establish a good pheno of the strain of your choice you can just take clones as needed to fill your grow space for free. The key is having multiple grow areas for veg & a dedicated flower space which makes it easy to keep a continuous flow of fresh bud with minimal effort.

If you feminize and seed autos they will be female autos. But you will have a ton of them to germinate to last you for quite some time.

It was just an alternative option to switching over to photo. The upside is no necessary second cab/tent/room like you need for mother/clone/veg
