Cloning day!!

Yesterday I just bought a PZ cloner 80 spots (aeroponic cloner) with neoprene inserts. Posted up awhile ago about cloning for sex and today is the day, well at least I hope it is!

Plant 1 (Blueberry Gum):

Age:
5 weeks old

Nodes:
10

Size:
8.7 inches

Health:
Great

Nutes:
Solvent 2/3 strength

Plant 2 (Red dragon):

Age:
5 weeks old

Nodes:
11

Size:
9.1 inches

Health:
Great

Nutes:
Solvent 2/3 Strength

Note: I've been told to wait till they are 2 months old, but I don't want them to get to large and get them into flowering soon.

Now I have a general understanding of cloning, I have all the supplies needed (scissors, Clonex gel, some de-stressing hormones and for later some rooting hormones/baby nutes)

So this is where I need some help, I've watched some cloning videos and have read some threads on how to clone as well as read from Jorge Cervantes 'Marijuana horticulture the indoor/outdoor medical growers bible.' I'm really lost at where to cut on the plant to make a clone, from what I've seen in videos they are contradicting some taking from the top of the plant and some from the bottom and not showing what branches to actually cut. I'm guessing I shouldn't cut the fan leaves but the leaves growing above their node if this is true help a brother out please!

So once I get them cut and put into the neoprene inserts and do all that jaz, how do I move the rooted cuttling into a rockwool medium? Should I take away the paper piece that surrounds it and cut one side inwards to the middle and use the sides as a clamp or should I poke a hole in the middle large enough to fit the cuttling into?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Happy harvesting! bongsmilie

I'm interested in this as well, going to be cloning for my first time here in the next month, month and a half. Hopefully a vet can come in and explain very blunt/idiot proof lol. All sorts of videos and whatnot can get confusing on whats best for us new guys.

Agreed!

Check out Jpeg666, I think he does almost all of his plants from clone.
IDK if he does them himself, or buys, but he might be able to help.

geneal cut 45 degree angle between third and fouth node cut of branch asapt the top trim fan leafs put in cloner i did this andtook for ever to root stems started to get slimy i did reseach and found recipe for 5 gal water 1 tbs of epson salt 1tsp super thrive 1 tsp clorox iwas nerves about clorox but no problems i cleaned every thing first mix it and started cloner it got foamy i think do to the epson salt put the clones stared to root in a few days and no more slim everthing clean white roots the cloner instuction said only water but i was not seeing any roots for two weeks and should have roots in 3-4 days thats when idid reseach and found the recipe and it works great about your plants you could cut thoughs branches that are lower on each plants but they look good hope you cut on angle and some time it helps to scrpe the stem a little about 1 inch up from end the scraping help for roots to grow threw that what they use rooting compound for when putting clone in soil or rockwool not nessery in cloner

my friend has an aerocloner and he says they root quick for him..before two weeks

make sure you scrape the whole first layer of "bark" off the part of the stem that you want to root.

try to pour willow acid/hormone in the sponges if you want even quicker results

good job mate,

I like to take all my clones from the bottom of the plant if that particular plant will be one that will get flowered. That leaves me all the nice top branches that get all the good light and none of the lower stuff that doesn't get much light. Plus the lower stuff is the oldest growth, Which makes it more mature for cloning.

Did the 45 degree angle and cut under the fourth node cut off the 4th node branches and 1 third node (The leaf was small and had a little mutation). I put in a Super B compound can't remember the 0-0-0 #'s but it helps reduce stress on the cuttlings and stimulates root growth! washed my tools in 190 proof grain alcohol so I don't think any bacteria could survive since I use it to get rid of my chronic strep throat lol. The PZ cloner states roots should appear in 5-7 days so I got my fingers crossed!!

bmeat you get a lot of hate but you seem on bat for this one. Normally they take up to 1 week to clone depending on how healthy the clones are, done a lot of research on aeroponic cloners. Did the scrape and cut up the middle of the stem for about 5mm to induce more roots. Good on the willow stuff read about it but I'll stick to the stuff I got now thanks though!

Thank you!! Not going to lie I went kind of OCD with cleaning and cutting trying to do everything perfectly so I'm hoping both of them wont die. Phew thats exactly what I did lol, I went to the first node on the bottom and took them from there except I don't know what to do with the nubs that are left on the shoot I don't want bacteria getting into them..

You got this man, It's all trial and error.

My first time cloning I thought it was some space age stuff. Making a plant from a branch of another plant?!?! I thought you had to be some kind of mad scientist to pull that off. But really, It was so easy.

I've killed a few clones in my time, But they're easily replaced by taking more. The thing you have to keep in mind is not everything is operator error. There are *some* that are just not going to clone. But remember to always give them 14-20 days to develop roots before thinking they're a dud.

After I realized how easy it was the first time, I ended up taking over 20 clones when I only had the room for about 5  I guess I got too much of a God complex lol.

Best of luck to you
