I like his solution for preventing excess back pressure and burning up pumps. With a valve cocked open just enough to make the spray jets spray but not build up too much pressure that would work great. Thank you for the link. I am going to adapt my cloned with that idea in mind.

You got that up an runnin' yet Cannaman?
Awwww Yeah lol update coming below....

It's this tub.

I have one but don't use it for a cloner...yet. I did think the squares on the lid would make great plant sites though.
See at $15.50 just for the tub after tax, add $20 for PVC cutters and glue (this sounds familiar) and that would be over $35 right there... Not trying to start anything, if I had some spare PVC laying around and/or PVC cutters or glue for that matter I would have built one...

I made my first one with just a 5 gal bucket, less than 2 feet of pvc, no glue, and I used a hacksaw to cut it. I did have to buy a pump though so it was still costly. Plus, it felt ghetto to me.

You're right though, starting from scratch, for a quality one the price for a premade is very comparable or better to a homemade when all time and labor is considered.

So this fits my lazy ass perfectly LOL I only misted them for the first day or so (as per the instructions which came with the cloner) I've added ice to it twice now. That's it... Well other than after 24 hours in the grow area it was a blazing 91.5f in the reservoir! I called that shit... Anyway so I ended up moving it into the laundry room and cranking down the t-stat lol. I haven't measured the water temp since moving it but im sure it's below 80f. It wont get any colder without a res chiller which makes no sense to buy for this application considering how much $ they cost.

A simple hacksaw blade and mini handle is about 2 dollars at the dollar store and PVC glue is 5 dollars at my local hardware store. Weird that that tub shows to be 13 and some change when I looked it up, I guess the prices are regional. I spent about 14 dollars for the spray heads and PVC pieces. Then you need a pump and air pump tubing stone and a hole saw plus a foam pool noodle cut to size for the inserts. Guess you are better off buying one, lol.

The one i got was $65, $79.95 shipped to my doorstep, open the box and plug and play. Not bad.

BUT if you have some of the stuff laying around building one is absolutely a great option. I do not disagree with that at all.

Now if you were to be looking at a $150+ name brand cloner like a Turbo Kloner then obviously building one is wayyyyy more economical even if you do have to buy everything. I just happened to stumble upon a really cheap one that basically was the same thing as I would build for around the same price. If I had made it, it would be a bit nicer tho :bigjoint:

O, no problem at all. Here is the break down of what I had to buy to build my cloner system:

Tough Box 27gal. tote (Yellow/Black) - 13.97
Raindrip Full-Circle Stream micro spray jets (10-Pack) - 3.37
All 1.5" pvc parts - 12.18
EZ Clone 2" neoprene inserts 35-pack - 13.04
($42.56)

Already had the EcoPlus 396 Water pump, airstones and other misc tools. Didn't use any glue so that I could break the system down with no problem.
I also built and EBB & Flow set up using the same type of tubs.

Yeah seems like "Oh cool I'll make my own cloner." $90 later, "Well, shit."
lol making your own cloner costs 10 bucks. Get a 5 gallon bucket, a small baking tray. Sponges. Put the cutting in tap water for 24 hours you should see roots forming. Stick the cutting, after the darkness, into the sponges. Put the sponges floating in water and tie them down with shoe laces. Put the tray in the 5 gallon bucket and put a large bag over the top, put the light sitting on the bag. Batabing, batabang, you have a 10 dollar cloner with 95% accuracy... Shits not very hard people... but I guess you guys are not stoner-macguyvers so I wont look down upon all of you ashamed.

....>>>!!!!!!!!!putting cutting in tap water in 100% darkness for 24-48 hours roots clones in about a week maybe a little more... Dont believe me try it!!!!!!!!!<<<....

When growing tahoe of, you got push her. Feed a little extra kelp or maxicrop and those stems will bulk up to hold. Everything about her ask for more. That girl doesn't like routines. She likes gradual doseages until about 12 to 1500 poms and then shell show you her true colors. She also likes fresh water. Just my experience growing her.

Yeah if you read a little further back I made one cheap at first. But that's the thing, it also looks and feels cheap. This type of cloner to me is ghetto. It works yes, but I don't like it. I made one that was of higher quality and it cost a little more. I take pride in my work.

i use a homemade aero cloner i made couple years back, and i get about a 95 percent grow rate, half the time i dont even dip my cuttings i just put a little h2o2 in it and some rhizotonic and in about 4 to 8 days i got big roots. and the water gets really really warm but ive never had problems with getting them to root
