There is a bubble cloner DIY around somewhere where the guy states to place the clones about 1/4" from the bubbling water. I don't know what air pump or air stones he used, but the water looked like it was at a rolling boil.

About a 1/4" to a 1/2" above the water. That works great in my Bubble Cloner. The stems on your clones should always be wet when you check them. If not move them down closer to the water and check again.

After roots form from the clone, what is the next step. I have all the pieces to make a bubble cloner I'm just not understanding what to do with the clone after roots are formed.

When you have a good few inches of roots... Put in the medium of your choice. if soil. Be VERY CAREFUL, cover with soil. make sturdy. WATER HEAVILY. Then let it dry out almost COMPLETELY before next watering so the roots begin to LOOK for water.
