cloning questions

just wondering how long does it usually take for the roots to grow out of the small cloning rockwool pieces?

i dont have them in any trays unfortunately...a lot of stores aren't stocking them right now...they're basically on a piece of clear plastic with a humidity dome over them. it has been about a week or so.

should i wait until i see roots growing out of the rockwool before i plant in soil?

I always wait until roots are showing to transplant. Of course, that depends on the size of the cube, and how far down you put the stem, and if you used bottom heat. Once rooted, new green growth will start on the plant.

I typically leave the dome on for 12 days, and all are growing well in the next few days.

Hope This Helps

Usually 7-10 days and they are good. Not having the cubes covered can be a problem as roots are light sensitive. If worst to worst use some small dixie cups or something to block the light around the cube.Make sure you mist when needed as until they have roots they only take water and food via leaves.Make sure you open the dome twice a day to refresh the air and if the dome doesnt show water humidity remist.A heating mat helps to keep humidity and temp right under the dome tray.Don't use big lights a shop light with 2 floros in it is ideal costs about 8 bucks at wal-mart..Have fun and dont over water

My fault major .I thought the boards were for all to find answers.I just saw it had 1 responce that was little vague and added thinking others who might visit the boards and see the thread might be able to use a little more info on the subject.I see you and another visited that link so people are still looking at it months later.I guess we should blame the host for not deleting all messages that had a single answer so no one tried to add to a link that is still visible to others in the board topics.Seriously if these topics are for only the original poster and then aren't supposedto serve as an evolving updated knowledge center you might be right but as this is a learning knowledge forum I think we should add ideas and thought as long as the thread is shown as active so people can read and learn or hell we may all have excepted all grow info from 1962 was the only way to do things.Right??
