Lightly scrape the area your tring to root with a razor blade, just scrape the surface.

You have to damage the phloem in order for roots to form then brush on rooting hormone, keep the media you are using to root the branch in moist by wrapping in plastic wrap and tying off the ends. I have never done it with pot but I have done it with other plants.

i would jus cut it at the bottom of rock wool.. that part would eventually grow roots or shrivel

to whom it may concern.... the branch died from rot :( maybe bc of cellophane round it?
probably....it has to be able to absorb oxygen
next time try a peat pellet with a rubberband tied around it and mist it when needed
also to help prevent rot u can subject the spot that will be rooted to darkness beforehand to aid in quicker roots....i believe its called etiolation
elec tape will work for this

Air layering has been around for awhile.

It can be as easy as: scrape, use foil to hold soil around scrape, and tape.
