CLOSED LOOP ..enough oxygen?

Building 6k setup with mini split..using 2 4x8 tables in a sealed 6'x16'x9' room....was wondering in such a tight fit do I need an intake and exhaust to bring in enough oxygen for the plants and root systems....I understand that co2 burns up the oxygen in the room?.....was also wondering how to run the co2 at night....thx very much.....

Your plants need CO2. They can produce oxygen. While they do need a little oxygen for cellular respiration, the net of things is that they suck in CO2 and produce oxygen.
You don't need CO2 at night, as CO2 is part of photosynthesis. No light means no photosynthesis, meaning they don't need CO2 at night.

Are you using a burner? or CO2 tanks?
Either way, be careful not to spend TOO much time in a sealed grow room before you get big plants going in there. CO2 is heavier than oxygen and will displace it from the ground up. I'm not 100% on the specifics, but I think OSHA recommends that you don't spend more than 5 hours in 1,000+ ppm of CO2.

Make sure to take breaks to go out and huff some fresh air.

Plants breathe CO2 and produce oxygen, completely opposite of how we function. As long as you're providing adequate CO2 and good circulation, you have nothing to worry about.

Plants munch on co2 > plants make fresh oxygen > co2 only used during lights on > A/C makes fresh air too , scrubber running 24/7 on the ground will help scrub any stale air that exists. Get yourself a Co2 controller and regulator one thats light sensitive, meaning it only turns on when the lights come on set that bitch anywhere from 1200-1500 PPM and you're set.

Using SOG method....so no big plants...will this effect oxygen output......

My mini split cools using frion..no air exchange...pulls air from room through unit(frion) and expells cool air....c02 is heavier but hotter so it rises....using a water cooled burner and a co2 controller that only sets 1200 to 15ooppm buts its not photo sensitive...i'll have to use a timer....

So out of the 12hrs a day of darkness...the plant doesn't need co2? I would think that through half its life cycle(dark period) it would need some. I was thinking of running one co2 cycle at night.......?

Really nervous....as this was expensive set up and wondering if the closed loop method produces better results???......better yields?....thanx again guys for all your imput...

Okay so I just learned that plants respire at night....take in oxygen and produce co2...just like us....so should I exhaust/intake at night or is there sufficient enough oxygen in the sealed room to provide enough during the dark period(12hrs)?? Again the room is a tight fit...

How much oxygen do plants need at night??

Thank you...

It might be a good idea to keep the air moving at night to reduce moldy buds and pm. When the air temp drops the relative humidity rises.

edit preface: I'm going to address your questions separately. I've been drinking too much to type all of this into a cohesive paragraph..

Hey bro. I wish you the best of luck. But honestly, before you go big, take a few hours and research basic plant metabolism and nutrition. What processes to plants need CO2 for? What do they need oxygen for? What are macro and micro nutrients, and when are they needed?

Plants don't need CO2 at night. Photosynthesis is CO2+H2O ----Light---> C6H12O6 + O2. Simplified: When the lights are on, the plants suck in CO2 and water to produce sugar and oxygen.

You should have your CO2 controller timer to be on during daylight only, since without light, plants arent phosynthesizing and therefore arent using CO2.

At night: Honestly the only thing you need to worry about at night is humidity during flower. Any maybe temps if they get too extreme. Plants produce oxygen all day while the lights are on. This oxygen is enough to get them through their nightly cellular respiration.

A basic knowledge of horticulture will help you more than just googling "marijuana-specific" gardening tips from people on forums.

Regarding SOG, Oxygen output should not be a factor. Plants don't need a whole lot of oxygen. They produce more than enough. What matters is that you have some kind of CO2 burner/tank generating CO2 so that the plants can keep producing sugars and growing during the day. Oxygen only matters for YOU while you're spending extended periods of time in the sealed room.

A sealed room will provide better yields, provided that you can manage temperature, humidity, and CO2.

Best of luck. Youre on the right track by reading and asking questions before you get going. I just hate to see people try and go big and fail.

What size air scrubber should I use for this setup?....I was thinking of installing a little 165cfm blower with a 4 inch charcoal filter to run continuously.....also where should the scrubber be placed....someone said on the floor?
