o2 naturally in the atmosphere is around 21%. C02 is naturally less than 1%. C02 is a bottle neck whereas 02 is not. You simply won't use up enough o2 during the dark phase to slow cellular respiration rates.

that makes sense, it was always my assumption too. i think the key is room size. the rooms iv worked in that run CO2 always have night time ventilation, but they weren't quite as large those rooms in the article. if its not to control humidity and if they aren't bringing in fresh O2 why put all the effort into filtering and ducting the air in? you've really got me thinking now, if i could find a way to truly isolate a smaller grow space i could grow anywhere. so, as long as the system is dialed in you wont have to worry about keeping fresh air coming in? in a large space with many plants i could see them being able to replace the O2, but would a couple plants be sufficient to replenish the air in a small cab? thanks Gastanker

SCCA, CGE, Totally Closed rooms aka "The Perfect Room" do excist. It's vital that you do filter 24/7 so you are able to remove all the spores. I'm trying a total CGE room right now and am having issues. I'm looking for the CGE experts. I've researched the topic endlessly but have been unable to perfect it.

Soil
I've been really upset with ventilation equipment lately and in re-arranging things i remembered a post where one guy was advocating that co2 isn't necessary in a closed system, not just sealed, closed. He had a co2 system ready but found it was unnecessary going by the readings on his co2 meter. Assuming that the light source doesn't produce too much heat for the room size there is a way to do this without ventilation. Leaves emit o2 and use co2, largest quantities are used/produced while being in the light. Roots use/need o2, i'm assuming more so during the night. The key here is Soil because soil produces co2, i'm thinking sugar helps, day 3 no dead plants yet and i think they have to be well established or this won't work. So now i've been looking to find the right ratio of soil amount needed per whatever
