Closet Grow Set-up Questions

Hello fellow growers,

I plan on starting a grow in a tent inside a closet. Any tips or recommendations from an experienced grower would be much appreciated. I grew in the past with cheap CFL's that didn't produce a very worthy yeild. I'd like to do it right this time. I plan to order feminized autoflower hybrid seeds from seedsman.com

Set up in mind:
2 plants in soil pots in an Apollo grow tent 48"x24"x60"
Galaxyhydro 600W LED Light
iPower 4inch inline exhaust fan with carbon filter and 8ft ducting package
IncuTherm thermometer/hygrometer.
Ozerri Brezza II dual oscillating 10" high velocity desk fan.

I would like to do 12/12 from seed. I'm hoping the exhaust fan won't be too loud. These are the basics of what I want to do. I'm still doing research but please share your knowledge if you know of any better equipment.

Thanks

I would suggest you run the auto's 18/6 or 20/4 not 12/12 so the autos can get the most growth possible. Seed to Flower is quick with auto's.

Why do a tent inside a closet? Put a squirrel cage fan on the ceiling of the closet and then a carbon exhaust in the attic. No need for a tent unless you are concerned about the light underneath the closet door.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I will most likely do 20/4 like VenomGrower said. I want to use the tent inside the closet for the easiness to set up the equipment like ScoobsWitDoobies said. By using the tent, odor control should be much easier as well.

Because Upnsmoke13 said the iPower inline is loud, I will either use VenTech IF4 4" inline fan or go with a 6" Vivosun. I've read these are the more quiet ones. If anyone knows an even quieter one please share!

Thank you

I have a 6'' Vivosun, and it is pretty quiet, granted my grow room is outside away from my house.
Thanks for the input. Do you think it could be audible coming from inside of a tent inside a closet? I want to be able to invite guests over to my apartment without them wondering about any funny sounds.

Thank you

A lot of people use the tents for the way they are setup, plug and play sort of, makes it easier I guess. There are a lot of benefits to growing in a tent, the setup you have seems like a really good start! Happy growing.
I I totally agree the tent will make it easier, plug and grow type situation but you'll have much more control over the environment without the tent here's my current setup in a closet. One plant I use 150 watt HPS and a few CFLs as side lighting, the yields tend to be about 5 ounces. This total setup was only about $150 very easy to maintain. check out my check out my past grow Journal using this system below.

I would definitely test the fans before buying, some people don't mind but for me, even the small ones make a lot of noises...
I still haven't figured a way to cancel those noises. They can be very annoying specially if you a going to sleep in the same room.
Best of luck

OP you'll appreciate having the tent even if it's in a closet. You have total control of light cycle, very worth it. I recommend a 6" inline, don't skimp, watts are watts.. it takes a good inline to regulate temps. I'm very satisfied with this solution:

Get double or triple layered ducting. Lots of other suggestions feel free to hit me up.

Another idea, buy a 6" or even a 8" fan, where a 4" would work. Then grab a speed controler, to turn your too big fan down to a nice quite hum. Fan noise is different then wind noise. Isolate your fan from solid mounting points also, reduces vibrations.

Maybe you could pick up photos and veg them along side your autos?

Nothing wrong with autos its just imho cheaper and easier to manage photos.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm most likely going with a 6" inline fan and putting it on low power. It does make more sense to go with photos for my first legit grow. I just liked that autos could be harvested quicker. But I prefer the higher yeild, potency, and control with the photo plants.

My advice on stealth growing.

Management "off time" to coincide when guests are more likely..

Most critical and can't stress more...
"DON'T EVER SHOW YOUR GROW" to anyone.

I can usually tell right at the front door as to what's really going on.

whether you use a tent in the closet or not, where are you venting the exhaust to? not much point in even having an exhaust fan if you plan to dump it back in the same closet.
filters are rated in cfm just like fans are, if you plan on getting an oversized fan and running it slower to keep noise down, make sure you get a fan thats rated slightly higher than you plan to run the fan. run it too fast and the carbon doesn't have time to work and your exhaust will stink.
don't know what kind of experience you have with autos, they aren't quite as easy as people make them out to be, theres tricks to growing them. not trying to make it sound like some mystic secret or anything, they just don't respond the same way as photos do. you can't top them, they don't like being transplanted, they eat very lightly and its very easy to burn the hell out of them....that kind of thing. also growing autos and photos in the same tent will hold your autos back, they can take 20/4 light their whole life, and will flower faster under it. photos....will not
