closet ventilation

a buddy and i are just getting ready to install our first indoor set-up. we have all the necessary equipment, (lights,ducts, inline fans,carbon filter, mylar, etc.) but there is just one issue.. So heres the deal: he lives in an apt complex and we figured it'd be best to put it in his patio closet..... so we are stuck on how to properly ventilate W/O cutting holes in the walls or ceiling????????????? The closet measures in at 3.5 X 8 X 7.5 feet. if you have any advice, it would be much appreciated. thanx

The only way is to vent it by opening the door, sorry. I would hate for you to go to small claims for cutting holes in the walls.

You could try to funnel it down and pump it trough the bottom. If theres not enough space u could see how much of the bottom you could shave off without being noticable. Probly have to make the rest of the door air tight.

I have the same problem...nowhere to go from the closet. I guess I'll just have to leave the door cracked when the lights are on

Eh guys I leave my closet door open 24/7 if I didn't the heat would just build up, so I put a fan 2 feet outside of the closet and run air from my room into the closet. It works for me. I am in week 2 flowering under a 400 watt hps. check out my grow under my statistics.

lol, sounds good but try not to be too suspicious though. it is amazing what some people would do to get some dope. what ever you do try to be as inconspicuous as possible. drizzle said it pretty dead on though. even a little air flow is better than none.

well once I think about it, (If you want to get serious about it), you could get a vent grill the size of the width of your door, then at the bottom of the door you could drill out a hole to fit the vent grill. and with those two fans, air circulation would be pretty good.

True that, I guess when your young. I live alone and my window in my grow room is covered with a thick blanket and you can't see any type of light from outside. I don't need to hide shit from anyone, but my nieghbors LOL......

I've been having issues figuring out how to vent my closet as well!

Did you consider removing the lighting fixture in the closet and using the hole it leaves for an exhaust? That's what i'm doing, here's a rough mock-up of what i might do:

Hmn.. you guys live in a apt complex? Let me ask you something.. Wats in that closet other then just space? Like breakers? PVAC unit? anything maintenance might need to get to at some point?

If u live on the bottom floor you could have a cat/dog flap installed.

Not only that, you will be taken to small claims court for modifying anything in the apartments, like cutting unnecessary holes......

With approval of the landlord.... what would they link about all the light coming from the hole?????

What no one likes my idea of taking out the lighting fixture and using that to exhaust? I think it's the best possible solution if you want any kind of 'stealth'. With a good exhaust a passive intake it a good option for closet growing! And when it's time to move just replace the fixture, no harm done!

im tryin to do the exact same thing...i live on the second floor. but my door isnt leveled correctly to the floor so there is a small space maybe for some kind of tubing or something, i dunno what to do.

no there isnt anything inside my closet just three walls.

Apartments usually have stuff in the room that maintenance needs to check on every now and then such as emergency buttons and vents.

If they catch you, you'll be charged for growing and if you already harvested or if they can prove that you intended to sell the bud you will be charged for two felonies and depending on your state you will be looking at more than 5 years.

Go buy a door from your local home improvement store that fits the closet doorway. Feel free to demolish that one. Just put the stock door back in before you leave the place for good. If you want to be a little more risky about it and your closet for whatever reason has moulding at the floor, you could try removing a strip of moulding and making a slot where it would normally cover.

I second the light fixture removal if you can do it without destroying the electrical box behind it.

Removing the light socket and venting from there is a poor idea. At best, you will accomplish mediocre ventilation with the added bonus of creating the perfect environment for mould to grow and destroy the drywall on the ceiling while simultaneously creating a health hazard for both you and your plants. Expect a nice fat bill for replacing the drywall and possibly the support studs in the ceiling after you move out.

Growing in the outside storage unit is a bad idea. In the summer, you will not be able to keep the temperature inside of that unit low enough. You are destined to fail in one way or another. Find another spot to grow. Period.
