Cloudy solution and residue newbie issue

I'm stumped, pros.
I have a beautiful indica lady but my ebb and flow system has an issue somewhere. I just don't know where to look for answers.
First off, here's my setup:
Using a system called the Lil Sprout (no longer available).
18 gal resevoir
400w MH/S switchable light
no light getting to solution tank
Medium = rockwool cubes in hydrotan clay pebbles (in 5" netpots)
Nutrients = Advanced grow and bloom and Gen Hydro micro
Tap water

The problem is that while she was in veg, the water would begin to turn cloudy and a non-white residue would form around the tank at water level. Also, a dark residue would form at the bottom of the tank.
I would clean the system and change the water and it would start again.

I just put her in flowering a week ago, and completely disassembled everything to give it a complete scrubbing. However, the same thing keeps happening. After about 3 to 4 days, the water starts cloudin up and the residue begins to show it's ugly head.

I don't know if it's a matter of mixing different brand nutes (thought the advanced label says it can be used like GH), or if it is not liking the Florida tap water, or that fact that I'm using half strength nutes recipe.

The roots started beautifully white, then went brownish just before going the deep cleanin and switch to flowering.
Now, they're coming out nice and bright white again, but I've got to adjust the ph down daily.

I keep te ph at about 5.5 or 5.6. Is that too low?

I never seemed to have the cloudy water/residue problem when I was using just straight GH nutes, but my hydroponics store guy said that Advanced were a bit better. So I was tryin to migrate to straight Advanced.

I have no clue as to where my issue lies, but I'm trying to learn all I can about the process and would greatly appreciate any educated input from you guys.

Please help a bruva out. Thanks much.

Hey man. I knew someone with the same problem. He showed me his buckets, he was using deep water culture, but a while after he added nutes his water would turn cloudy. little white bits that would settle as film on the walls. here is a website that talks about turbidity. maybe a step in the right direction.
