I would not use hps for veg and do not dim them, changes the spectrum, better to buy a lower power light, leds can be dimmed though. MH for veg is good, or CMH

yeah proper ventilation , I'm trying to either get the energy efficient leds or hps
I would go with leds, you are looking at the worse efficient and best efficient as your options.. no hps for veg.

If you want hps then use that for flower and use your 3500k leds for veg, would be a waste though to use those 2 lights for veg as 2 600 watt vero 29 cob fixtures would be great flower lights.

and I was thinking with the hps if I wanted to switch the veg tent with the cobs and flower with the hps I could do so and vise versa

timber grow lights have nice frame work fixtures or diy setups where you build your own frame. cobkits, cutter, tastyled, northern grow lights, rapid led, ChilLED.. all those are good places for parts/fixtures etc.

Quantum boards or COBs are both more efficient than the hps. You can do anything with a 3500 k and do it damn fine as I am proving with veros in veg tent and citizen 1818 in flower! I think quantum boards would be a great next step but I have my needs met.

Are all of these lights diy builds. The information put there is overwhelming and it seems i could spend months without making a decision. I have a 5x9x8 tent and want to move away from the 2 1000 hps i run because of their unmistakable energy use in the days of smart meters. I constantly see well known members glorify cobb lighting. Any suggestions for an equal counterpart to my 2 hps?
