Coco and Hydro Nutrient Recommendations

Hi

i have many small gradens that all have their own res - some hydro some coco. I was spending hours measuring so I built a plant food dispenser. Turn it on and the nutes mix up on start up enter which bottle you want and how many ml. When you press the pound sign on the keypad it dispenses how much you entered and it works great.

The problem is I was using Advanced Nutes but it’s expensive and not the best for hydro. Remo is great but I need a lot and it’s also expensive. What is a good nutrient that isn’t too expensive and I need enough to mix 500l total res water suitable for hydro and coco. 7 bottles or less would be good but I might be able to add up to 15 if the nutes are cheap enough.

I had decent results with General Organics line. No pH to worry about testing or adjusting, excellent quality...I did only get an average or maybe even small yield, but I did not realize I was supoosed to be feeding every day! This time, when they get 4 times the feeding frequency and I am using strains designed to yield large crops, I expect nice results.

There isn't really one line that I recommend without any additional supplements from outside that line, though, but ya gotta be careful! Especially if wjatever you use is synthetic. Too many PPM's can ruin what would otgerwise be a killer harvest.

A few other lines I can describe:

Techniflora Recipe for Success Kit:

Used in DWC with incredible results, but I also used Humboldt's Own Snowstorm Ultra Maxx and Liquid Light by Dutch Master. Was my first time out, and I entirely butchered the plants in my failed attempt at topping and scrogging. Didn't go too well as far as yield under my 400w. But the quality was insane! Due to a massive utility bill, I switched methods and used it on my 2nd attempt, in coco coir, and it did not perform as well. Best components of the kit in my opinion were Sugar Daddy (molasses) amd Awesome Blossoms. Clonex is much cheaper and much more effective than their Root 66. The veg nutes seemed to do much less in coco. The flowering nutes were excellent in both, but far more trichs on the DWC bucket grow than in coco. Idk, could have been that I used Snowstorm Ultra Maxx on DWC grow but not in first coco attempt.

Botanicare CNS 17 Line:

Used in coco, it vegged much better than the plants in my 2nd grow in coco, where I had used Techniflora. Flowering was incredible generally speaking, with better bud size than the Techniflora but it just wasn't as covered in trichs as Techniflora plants when I used a DWC. Taste and quality were still great though.

Used this stuff on my subsequent attempt in a DWC, but it didn't do quite as well as when I used it for coco. I could have kept using it but I wanted to see what else was out there, so I finally tried the General Organics, as I mentioned in the first paragraph-- and which I will probably use again this year simply because I want to see what happens when I use it every day now that I know to feed daily. Also because I still have some left from last year.

I have smoked herb grown with Advanced Nutrients and it was INSANELY flavorful and potent, but I never used it to grow before so have no idea how yield may be either increased or decreased vs. other nutes.

Some additives I have used:

Liquid Light -- worked like a BEAST!!! Made my plants raise their "arms" straight upward and growth was noticeable each day. This applies to coco and hydro.

Fox Farm Soluble Trio -- I can't be certain this was what caused it, but based on timing, I believe that these supplements caused my buds to swell, trichs to grow, and my yield to become more flavorful.

Snowstorm Ultra -- not too sure whether this worked or not, in hindsight, because I was using other supplements, but it was like 2 days after I used it and my buds got FROSTY! So, I will go ahead and go out on a limb and say that it is my belief this stuff does work...less in coco than DWC but it works for both.

There are lots of good lines out there and I haven't come close to scratching the surface. When using too many additives, it gets impossible to tell exactly which one had produced what effect. Remember that!!! Sometimes it is best to keep it simple and maybe use only veg nutes in trial size bottles until you find the best veg nutrient, then repeat with flowering growth, and again for bloom boosters to see which made the frostiest and tastiest bud.

Hope this helped a bit. Sorry about the length.

Jacks or Masterblend, calcium nitrate, epsom salts. Done. You don't need any other additives.

Buddhas Tree Organicus 99 if you are in the UK where is easiest available.

Been growing a very long time but this brand has got my attention for the first time in ages.

Used it for last 2 grows and nothing else and its consistent so far. IMG_20200515_111116.jpgIMG_20200515_111129.jpgIMG_20200515_111149.jpg

All in one veg and bloom and good for your set up I think.

Take a look, monsters at just 1ml per ltr which is 50% less than the recommended minimum.

It's good I say.
