Coco Coir - Run off pH question

Hi everyone,

Not a first time grower but wanted to get opinions from other fellow Coco coir growers...

Note: I buffered my Coco coir with Sensi Calmag Extra and Piranha nutrients at 5.8 pH.

Schedule wise, my input pH is 5.8 RO Water and pH down (1st week of seedlings life)

Feeding is every day with water, good run off so no issues with draining etc. My run off pH is around 6.1 to 6.2 depending on the day and time I water.

I know 6.1 is OK, but 6.2 wont hurt too right? Obviously my aim is to keep the run off as near to the input pH but thoughts would be appreciated. The PPM of the run off also is around 295 ppm.

Peeps think their plants will shrivle and die if not kept in optimum range.
True it wont be on point but it wont hurt too bad.

I had one of my containers at like 4 for a few days before i noticed leaf crinkle

5.8 to 6.3 is supposed to be the best range .

RANGE. Being the word as to absorb the whole range of nutrients i belevie you should let it swing fro. 5.8 to 6.3

She's about 4 days above ground now but still just two little leaves for now, might crank the LED up to full 300W tomorrow.

At 4 days I don’t feed .
I wait till the pod buster leaves (can’t think of there proper name atm) start to discolor
Then feed them, at 4 days they’re very sensitive and don’t need food .
Those leaves not only brake the shell but are like egg yokes in they provide food for the 1st stage of life .
It’s very possible to love them to much and this stage

I've not been giving anything but RO water Ph'd to 5.8 for now, the coco is buffered already with Piranha and Calmag Extra, that was left to sit and drain before the seed was transplanted last week. Growth is good, the seed leaves are starting to curl down as normal and the first true leaves are showing good development.

I'll get the new diary up at the weekend to get things going to document the process.

Next time i grow an on point seedling

Ill take pictures of the cotlyden at harvest lol
Like little green thumbs

I always took it as a good thing if you grew your plant so stress free the cotlyden stayed till chop

Always find mine fall off in mid veg, no matter what is done to them might be a strain dependent thing?

But more likely people just let them fall off

I always took it as a sign i was on point lol

Started the LED at 300W full power this morning, only two small leaves for now, hopefully next few days it gets its ass into gear and starts moving

She stretched a little last night despite the closeness to the LED but not enough that i'd worry about it - i've moved it back to around 30 inches from leaves tops... Let the fun begin!

I'll put the grow journal up after the next node comes up, otherwise just kind of boring to follow hehe Run off is still around 6.1 / 6.2 and a PPM of about 290. All looking great so far, nice and green and the stem looking super healthy and hairy already <3

Seedlings is a stage i never cared to master yet
And i have gotten lanky seedlings under 600w hids.

I think the secret to short seedlings is to use lower powerd light slammed right over top
Light t5s or mabey strip leds

Yea, i'm trying not to add more inventory to my room for now as moving in a few months time so its just more crap to haul out with me. I'll be making a DIY COB at the end of the year as time allows... since i've got access to the raw materials to make an LED it makes it more cost-effective for me

I dont mind a little stretch but prefer this girl to spread her wings and GROOOOOW!

Leaf color is nice green, not too deep, not too light... really love growing in Coco coir... feels more organic 100%

Quick update pic... We are are technically day 7 above ground.

Seed was planted last Saturday 10th March, broke ground Monday 12th March and been on 18/6 under 150 until 17th March and then to 300W full, now today 19th March... Just wanted to see what you dudes think of the progress... She's already in a big pot, didnt want the hassle of solo cups this time

Yeah dude... She was a little pale this morning but seemed to perk up by midday.. Leaf development is looking WAY better than in the soil failure of the weeks before... Grow diary is up in journals, i'll add more pics each week or if anything comes up

As you can see... I likes my Perlite mixed into my Coco coir

PS... When you think it'll be good to drop in some Sensi CalMag Extra? I'm thinking 2nd or 3rd node should start needing some dose as the mix is buffered already to handle the first two weeks without additions.

I only add shit as needed
If you are using a coco formula you shouldnt need anything else

But i like to stay on the light side feeding

Looks good
When I first seen the mix
I thought, I’m sure I’ve seen my ol lady eating something that looks like that .

Just be carful not to over water the little girl, it’s easy to do in big pots

3rd 4th node , start at 25% n work up.
