Coco with organic layer and mulch

Dunno about anybody else but I'm not convinced a substantial or varied beneficial colony can be held onto unless heavy weekly inoculations. Even then I'm unable to find any scientific colony tests if anything is surviving in synthetic fed coco.

What if you were to include around 2 inches of compost/worm casting at the top with a further inch of hay on top to keep the compost damp. Would this allow a mini echo system for developing colony's who could tunnel into the coco or would the low ph of frequent watering kill them off?. I read diverse colony's do best at ph 7.0 while myco are one of the few that are mainly effected by nutrient strength over ph range.

Of that, would the leaching over time of increased ph from the compost effect the coir ph range or would the more frequent watering of coco dilute that effect. I'd also wonder if a more diverse colony exists, it may help the coir tolerate a bigger swing?.

I'm interested in people who have any first hand experience with the above, rather than what you ''think'' or ''read'' will happen, no offense intended. It would also be super helpful if you know of any actual lab testing of beneficial bacteria count/diversity within synthetic fed coco.
