coffee

Earlier today my husband and I were talking to one of our friends, talking about how far along our ladies are coming. She was telling us how she put room temp coffee in the soil of her tomatoes this past spring and how they just shot up after that. She said we should try it with our plants. I told her I'd have to look into it more because this is our first grow, ya know? I don't want to accidently kill or harm my ladies lol.

What do y'all think about it? Is it something to try on future grows?

I would check the pH on your coffee before pouring it on your plants. I know I've used old grounds on blueberries, and rhubarb and the plants seemed to like it.

And your reasoning is? Not being a dick, just wondering.
Well theres the acid factor. And theres the unknown factor, like what will happen, and what's exactly in there as far as npk goes, and how much do you need, how much is too much, and will you end up with an imbalance? And some real plant food is cheap as all hell and free as samples in most hydro stores if you ask. Thats why. Id think youd be better off getting real plant food so you can duplicate your results the next time around. And if you want to ammend your soil with coffee, get the worms to eat it first and then use that. Ive just seen plenty of disaster looking grows covered in coffee grounds....

Just sounds like a unneccesary risk. No need to try crazy things to grow. Just stick to the basics and play it safe and you will be straight.
That's the thought process i've had about it. It sounds like an interesting thing to try but I'm still a noob when it comes to growing and everything. There are too many unknowns like alienwidow pointed out. I don't even know anything about composting yet so i've still got a ways to go.

Thanks y'all :bigjoint:

Grounds go in my worm bins and my compost pile.....later they end up in my soil builds. After they have been pooped by hard working, jacked on coffee worms, or composted!

They DO work well for Blueberries in a neutral or alky soil! BB's are acid loving plants!
