collecting pollen from males

i have about 5 males that i would like to collect pollen from. The 2 kc brains mango males are looking nice and ive been pulling large sacs off them just before they open. But the puna budder, double gum and the hashberry are getting less light and the sacs that they are showing are alot smaller and not even turning into balls just coming out open and very small.. I grabbed several and rubbed them in my finger and did not see any visible pollen on them. so i put them in a spot that gets atleast an hour of direct sunlight . Do you guys know if those very small sacs that come out open are viable?

I have collected pollen from my males in the past and successfully fertilised a branch or 2..... I had them outside away from my girls,I picked the flowers when they were just about to burst open and put them in a paper bag. I dried them out for 2 weeks or so and then put that bag in an airtight container and put that in the freezer... I fertilised a couple of branches from the fresh pollen and 1 from the frozen pollen,,both worked well.... there is prob not alot of point in collecting the small unformed flowers but maybe if you dried them out well they might contain some pollen...still it does not take much pollen to make seeds so I'd just gather the well formed flowers....hope that helps :^)

i just pollinated a double gum from whitelabel with kc brains mango pollen and i also crossed the mango pollen back with a mango female to get more mango seeds. Only this crop is seeds i have others that are far away that are seedless. Double gums look crazy one of the pheno's has pink pistils and its about 3 feet tall and 3 weeks into flowering.

maria, just that branch would be pollinated but be careful not to get it any where else or the whole plant could accidently be pollinated
