I've always been interested in this topic. I just haven't had the space to try it out.

Which is preferable (more stable etc)
1) Hermie a branch of one plant to produce pollen then paint onto the branch of another plant
or
2) Hermie a branch of one plant then paint the pollen onto the branches of the very same plant.

I like the advice given about starting your pollen plant first. Probably a few weeks ahead.

Answer is yes. You can take that pollen and dust the same plant to produce seeds or take that pollen and dust other plants to make a cross.

Couple things to think about:

1) Start misting the fem plant when it's ~10".
2) Start this plant before the others.
3) Dust the receiving plant/plants somewhat early so the seeds develop.
4) A little bit of pollen goes a long way and FLOATS.

What kind of ratios of auto flower are to be expected in the progeny in one were to cross two autos?

Just curious if they'd all be autos or if 1/4 might be photo, or what.

Same question @whitebb2727 when you crossed the auto to a photo, did you observe a specific ratio of auto:photo in the offspring?

Thank you.

With autos it depends on how well worked the lines are.

Its hard to start from scratch and get good auto flowers.

Look back at the lowryder. Nowhere near what autos are today.

Auto x auto equals anywhere from 50% to 100% offspring with auto flower trait.

With auto x photo you will generally see about 25% to 50% with the auto trait. It takes some work.

These are just general guidelines. I am by no means the master of it.

Some breeders are better at it and get better rates. I am sure there are tricks to it that I will learn.

Good info, i need to read up on breeding a little it sounds like I thought it was a little easier. Just wanted to chuck some pollen and make some autos
If you use two of the same autos from the same breeder it should be stable. I hasn'have not done this myself but did read on riu someone did and it storrworked well for them

I am working on the forth generation of crossing a fem Berry Ryder x a fem Afghan Kush Ryder aka (BKR) and currently waiting for f5 seeds. I have never got anything other than autos when crossing autos. And they are all fem. (I use TMIST or CS)

Can't answer the auto and photo ratios when breeding them together.

Any and all stress is good stress when trying to get one to herm. water too often, not water enough, too much nutrients etc
I leave my light on 24 hrs and sometimes have to unplug for 24 hrs. I water inconsistently and pull off fan leaves. I never get hermies. Sure glad I don't.

NEVER BREED A HERMIE!! Hermie lives don't matter!! LMAO

I always spray one branch, always worked and it produces more pollen than you need. There are several benefits to spraying one branch, you can make selfed seeds with your other seeds. You also save cs with the one branch method, it doesn't take much and you are able to save a mama for harvest minus the branch you flipped.

I would never use the stress method because it could pass on hermie genes to the next generation. With CS you do not pass on any trait.

Seed Maturing times= Auto= 2-4 weeks, photo indica=3-5 weeks, Photo sativa=4-6 weeks

Oh, it works alright! I have read thru all of HighLowGrow's journals... The man has taught me many insightful tricks thru his wizardry! I would highly suggest reading thru them yourself if you are truly interested in breeding autos. I have 4 brand new strains thanks to his knowledge. Each very potent and amazing. Make your breeding plant selections carefully and you will rock it like I have!
