Complete Dark for 5 days/pre-flower

Ok- flowering hormones build up in the dark period over the course of veg. If you veg for 24/0 it will take a lot longer then 18/6 to show it's sex. Plants vegged under 18/6 will flower a bit faster then plants vegged under 24/0 for the same reason.

I believe the darkness before flowering was originally created by the 24/0 guys because such little hormone was created during veg, and they realized that keeping them in the dark for 24-36hrs resulted in plants flowering quicker.

I personally think plants grow MORE, but with more space between nodes on 18/6. I do 24/0 under T5's because if I introduce a dark period, my plants grow too much. That's just my experience anyway.

Plants grow in the dark.

Nay, sir, plants stretch for light in the dark. They don't add weight, the further you get away from the time that they had light, the less weight they will put on as they stretch and stretch and to the point of no return and then flop... fall over and die... =)

I've recently had the experience of comparing 250MH vs a 189-200 watt T5 veggie chamber, both 24/7. I find that under the T5, the growth is MUCH more compact, MUCH more lush. I account this toward the fact that the MH has more red light and produces more heat. I have to wait and see what happens when I put them under a 1000w HPS for flowering.

Flowering hormones build up over time, inducing a 24 hour dark period for 5-7 days puts undue, unnatural stress on the plant. It promotes stretching and weakened growth, the plant then has to bounce back from 24 hours to the 12 regular flowering schedule. I believe in plants with hermaphrodite tendencies will be MORE likely to show in this case if growing from seed.

Indoors, this method would be a growers nightmare as the plants kola's stretch but starts popping out massive quantities of popcorn nuggets all over the bottom of the plant that NEVER EVER receive enough light to ever grow to amount to anything significant outside of putting it in fucking butter.

Not to mention the stretch that will occur because of the regular flowering hormone that naturally makes the plant stretch to begin with.....

Nah, seriously, I am not going to even lower myself further to even respond to that person which claims this method works. This method is not only stupid, it's bullshit, made up, nonsense. HOGWASH. He has no experience, nor does the person who he claims he has learned this from. Which I believe itself is a made up story.

I agree with all of this, I was just trying to keep it simple. The hormone builds no matter what, but in my experience my plants flower pretty damn quickly no matter what I do, so no dark period for me.

LOL! My wife says "you been a skinny runt since I known yah but that doesn't mean you aint grown none."

The 24/0 T5 produces the tightest nodes for me, but my 600w mh with a little dark period, like 20/4 really produces much bigger plants with thicker stems, IME.

THAT's EXACTLY what I was wondering..... It'd be cool to hook up a t5, with say 75watt or 150 watt MH with a higher end red spectrum, or see if throwing in some "day light" bulbs with a redder spectrum would make for stronger stems and bigger plants with incredibly tight nodes.

Nobody said anything about 7 days. Lets not exaggerate and "lower" yourself "further". But you seem to describe it like you have actually tried it, so...was it "stupid", "bullshit", "nonsense" then? Or are you speculating based on your vast knowledge? The real Ben Franklin was more apt to prove things by doing rather than speculating...you should learn more about him. Or are you purely using your obvious psychic ability?...You know, the same one you use to incorrectly suggest I have an invisible friend, that I am a troll, and that I am an anti-pot plant. Again, you are in the wrong room and certainly in the wrong thread.

On a happier note, you helped me gain the "Keeps coming back" trophy! Thanks!!!

I'm a newbie but this sounds like a troll to me too.
Ha. Oh my. Do they give a trophy here for being a suck up? Not a troll, I asked a legitimate question that I had logically based on not finding reference to it here. There were a handful of thoughtful, non-degrading, posts at the beginning that I responded to in kind. Was not looking for an argument, just the "thoughts" of others. It turned a bit nasty when others did so, while I tried to continue to keep things on an even keel while not being a total, submissive, sap. Admittedly, I have much to learn and will do so. I know this because...well...I am smarter than the average bear and most historical figures.

Nah im JK I don't think he's trolling. I think OP wanted to hear one thing and got back the opposite response from the majority of people, and then everyone came at him sideways when he wouldn't take their advice so now it's way off topic. It's one of them things...don't ask a question if you've already pre-determined the answer - if you want to discuss something you would say "let's discuss this ****" not "what do you think about this?" and then turn around n say well fuck what ya thought this is what it izz~!

Anyways I think 5 days is a little too long. Maybe 24 hrs of dark - or maybe just the cut down to 12/12 will suffice as it has for almost every grower I know...

Thanks! I would only counter that I actually like the answers and will definitely utilize them in my second grow. Buried in here are my reasons to give the odd-method a try. Even if not the best method, I know for a fact it is not a total flop. I have seen and tasted the results and he would not steer me wrong. It will give me something to compare to in G2.

calling ppl naysayers is when you blew it pal. no one was being rude to you till then. You really should delete your account and start over with a better attitude tbh.
Whatever. I apologized for the connotation and explained my denotation. If someone does not want to believe that...well...their problem. My attitude is what it is and a knew account will not mask it. Plus, those who do not like it certainly should be wise enough to steer clear of it. Thanks for the advice though.

FLOWERING HORMONE IS DESTROYED BY LIGHT. ITS LIKE GIVING THE PLANT ESTROGEN PILLS before its period....um

STEM CELLS WILL RECEIVE MORE FLOWERING HORMONE IF THE FLOWERING HORMONE IS NOT DESTROYED BY LIGHT. THE LONGER THE DARKNESS, THE HIGHER THE CONCENTRATION OF THE HORMONE.
5 DAYS NO LIGHT MEANS EVERY STEM CELL CAPABLE OF DOING FLOWERY SHIT WILL DO THE FLOWERY SHIT.

YOU WASTE YOUR PLANTS ENERGY ON CELLS WHICH ARE STILL IN VEG IF YOU GIVE IT LIGHT BECAUSE THE LIGHT PREVENTS FLOWERING HORMONES FROM BEING HYPER PREVALENT...DOTH THAT MAKE SENSE!!?!!?!!!
