Ok first of all, hello everyone, i'm new here. This will be my third grow using 400W hps and mh lamps. First time i keep a journal, i will post pictures weekly.

I can't remember the strain i'm using but it's a second gen, i'll let u know later what it is, because the guy who gave them to me definetely still knows.

I soaked the seeds for a little over 12hours now and 4 out of 11 seeds have visibly cracked, two starting to show root.

Thursday will be 7 days from the start of germination. 6 seeds have spouted and are growing, showing first leaves. The other 5 aren't doing much really, 2 of them cracked and there's a little root coming out but they're not growing, another seed was damaged before i started germination and two others i threw out because nothing was happening after 5 days, just to find out today that it can take up to 12 days to germinate, ah well. So the worst case scenario gives me 6 plants. The seeds should be feminized and i have 1 square meter for growing which is about 3.3 square feet and 1m80 high or about 6 feet high.

So nothing much to show right now, in 2 days i'll be putting up more pictures.

there's something strange with those seeds, the two that weren't growing seemed to have started rotting, they smelled like rotten little eggs. So that leaves me with 6.

Pictures from day 8, thursday

Now, the 6th seed had some trouble like the other seeds gone bad, it's going to sound confusing and you might think i am responsible for what i will tell you, but the sixth one that's not looking too good lost it's root tip when i was digging it back up to see if everything was ok because of slow progress compared to the others. And i was very carefull, i know these things can take some strain and i didn't give it any strain, still, the root tip was missing.

The other seeds that went bad had a similar problem, even before i put them in the soil some root tips were coming off just by holding the seed in a position that the root tip was pointing up, so it practically fell off. Anyway i don't know what caused it, maybe chlorine in the wet cloth cause i used toilet paper.

So the following pictures were taken today (day 11)and the lesser of six little beauties seems to be doing fine.

new pictures, i can't help posting more than once a week :)

i put them in bigger containers, 2x 4.5gallons/14liter and 4x 2gallons/7liter, i'm gonna put the 2gallon plants in 4.5 gallon containers later on when they get root bound again, i didn't have the two extra 2gallon containers.
day 13 from putting seed in water

and some pictures of my previous grow, around the 3rd week 12/12

i figured out how to use the thumbs :)
these are only three plants and the biggest was bent across the tent, was about 6 foot high, the others are about 4.5 foot high

looks like your previous grow went pretty well. nice plants!! and nice set-up.

any changes that you are going to make for this grow vs the previous grow?

what is your soil mix?

thanks for the help.

M Blaze, I remember you, you're the guy with the trees :)

Sticky, since i have more plants now i'm expecting less time will be needed for vegging. Soil mix is nothing out of the ordinary, plain compost with some perlite, and nutes from "canna" : rhizotonic root stimulator, cannazym for breakdown of macro nutrients, veg mix, bloom mix, ph adjuster and finally bloom booster. I've been using the same soil from my first grow, just put it outside for a couple of months, worms get their way in and start pooping their way trough, the roots left inside become soil again( i do take the time to tear them apart properly), and the rain flushes it. That way i only have to dispose of the branches (if i really wanna make myself usefull i could start making my own clothes with them but i'm not that kind of a hippie) It's only couple hours work to recupe that soil and saves me little money, which i can spend on beer :)

It's just that it saves me a lot of disposal, it's more beneficial this way in every aspect, and the plants don't seem to mind, at least not the first time, this will be the second time reusing the same soil, so far so good.

cbgreen..... thanks for the info! good info on your mix and nutes. i like your thought process in regards to the recycle of the old soil.

does anyone have any experience with the following? I'm starting to think reusing that same soil might not have been such a great idea after all, or at least i'm hoping it has nothing to do with it. At first i didn't pay attention to it, but it starts to curl more every day, and two others are starting to show the same curling of leaves, just not as bad yet. btw, the leaves' colour is just fine, no spots, texture feels normal, it just twisting oddly

Ah never mind, seems to be because the little b*tches weren't used to that bright light, new growth seems to be unaffected

btw, this is strain C99, and i wonder what i can do besides putting some trays of water down in the tent to keep humidity up, i don't have the money for a humidifier. It seems i get a set of leaves every 2-3 days while it could be every day.

Maybe you can catch up with me since hydro grows faster than soil :)

I'm going to put them on 12/12 next friday, i just topped them yesterday after the 4th node, allso cutting away the bottom 2 sidegrows of each plant, leaving me 6 colas per plant.

And regarding a question from doc sticky, i've been doing some more readin (seems like it never ends :) ) and i'm going to try to increase my yield compared with my previous grows by doing the following..the last two weeks before harvest, when i only give them ph'd water, i'm going to foliar feed them with a honey solution, and switch the light cycles to light-21h36/12h-dark

My previous yields were 0.5grams per watt.
