Confusion About Religion?

okay so i grew up in church but when i started smokin the herb the people ther basically shunned me and i grew away from them and started doin my own shit.
at age 15 i began my rap sheet with possession of marijuana.
age 16: possesion of marijuana, evading arrest, obstruction of justice, assualting an officer
age 18: released from juvie on probation, my church friends all went off to college and the adults at my church hated me even more because to them i was just a tattoed, beaten waste of time. Im in my second year of culinary school and i found a church where the people accept my smoking and dont care if i have a record or anything
my question is should i give christianity another chance or is it really just a fairy tale excuse for christians to reject people like me?

The first church that shunned you weren't Christians. They were people who wanted to dress up, play church, and have a holier-than-thou attitude. I hope you won't judge all of us by the actions of a few. We're all not a bunch of backward, bible-thumping, idiots. I can't tell you what you should do, nor do I have the desire to. I sincerely hope that you find your way, and that you do keep an open mind towards Christianity. I wish you the best.

thank you for showing not all church members are like my hometown church.
right now im going to services every now and then out of habit more than anything i guess at least until i decide what to do.

Glad I could help. I have no doubt that you'll find your way, which ever way that might be. Remember, which ever path you do decide to walk, you'll still have trouble in your life. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've seen people lose faith because they were under the assumption that because they had joined a church or converted, and that all of a sudden, life was going to just be perfect. Be blessed friend.

Whatever your belief, you don't need church.

Churches are there to keep you believing in 'their' doctrine, so that your support will allow them to continue existing.

Whether you believe in one particular god, the magic waffle monkey, or a golden calf, church is irrelevant.

I think I lost it after I read the lost book of ENKI and all of the sumerian tablets!!! If you believe in the Bible may i suggest that you read them because it is the old testament without being "lost in translation" when the hebrews starting writing the bible as we know today!! Be PREPARED!!

This quote lingers in my mind and will forever "It doesnt matter, He believes in You"

If religion confuses you, just believe in yourself.

I'm not quite understanding your post.... you seem to be making a connection between not going to church and your arrest record. ???

No connection there I assure you.

CrackerJax:
my arrest record caused all the people at my hometown church to reject me once i got out and they basically forced me out of the church

see stuff like that really shouldnt happen in a church were there telling you jesus is the only way, and they dont even take his teachings seriously!
i think church is an avoidable idea. because it will do nothing but keep you in a vitim state of mind, you know the usual , your a sinner , you were born into sin, you have to tithe, you have to tell gay people they are going to hell, ect not logical ideas i think from a creator who sopossedly said that everything was good,if he was satified with his creation then what is all this drama about?! you should really take a look into quantum physics ideas and that alone can change the way you look at everything. you are a free human individual with complete freewill. dont restrict your mind in church , expand it herb is a handy tool to help that i think, just keep your mind open and remember that you can do anything that you want and people should respect that

You really only need a church if you 'need' one.

Religion does NOTHING for me. It doesn't answer ANY questions about our origins or purpose in the universe. And all the deep understanding of natural phenomenon in my life fills my spiritual needs fully. So I don't need it. But many people do need it for spirituality.

If you do, make sure you are using it for something positive, and not just allowing people to dictate life choices to you. And they will one day. Even though they will accept you for some time as you are. Eventually, someone will begin with advice to become more 'acceptable' to god.

Fuck god and religion. No offense to believers.... Just my opinion.

Bro,

It isn't christianity that shunned you, it was humans. God didn't and doesn't shun you. Preachers, Popes, Rabbis, etc. are humans and have their failures and that includes their congregations. Your religious beliefs are between you and God and should be irrespective of the content of the church congregation and their view of you, your clothes, hair style or whatever. God doesn't care what you look like, the color of your skin or prison record, he is interested in what is inside of you. Remember, Jesus came for us sinners, not for the "righteous" and there are no righteous on the planet, only those that think they are.

yeah thats what the bible leads us to believe, but if god loves all people and all his creations, why does he allow or even create the circumstances for rascism, and why would an all loving god choose one race over another, we have his"chosen" people the jews, which is a whole topic on its own. and why would an all knowing, omnipresent, loving god, lie to his "perfect" creations. why would he send a "son" to do about 3 years out of 30 within even a million year timeline to tell people that he is the only way to "heaven".
but at the same time teaching that the kingdom of heaven is within? too many questions. i grew up in the church too and took me along time to even ask these questions

It's always interesting to see someone start telling another person what 'God' is really like.

Somehow these individuals have magical insight into the nature of a being that is purported to have created all of existence, and each religion has their own.

There's a technical term for people like that. Liars.

The hardest thing for most too do, when they loose their God, is too look in the mirror and know they are and responsible.

My signature says it all for me.

Born to preach the gospel and found truth and nobody wanted to hear it...yet.

I found God in ME, The Christ in a glass bowl and TRUTH outside my door in the woods.....
