Constantly shortening light cycle: (New?) Idea

Has anyone ever tried "imitating" the seasons, by shortening the day length, by a few minutes a day. I had the idea of starting a plant on 18/6, and taking a minute off of the light cycle until it was finished. I think it could help to produce higher yields, being as that is what happens in nature (outside of the equator.) Anyone ever done this. Also, does anyone ween their plants from the veg cycle to the flower cycle or does everyone cut them straight to 12/12?

there's a whole 72 page thread on 12/12 from seed. after reading a good amount i'm convinced it works, but less yield for less time. you might be onto something with cutting the light slowly, as it has been said the roots do their growin in the dark.

When I said cut to twelve twelve, I meant after vegging. Or do some people do a day at 18/6, a day at 17.5/6.5, a day at 17/7......... a day at 12.5/11.5 down to 12/12.

Ive wondered about this also. Outdoor plants are alot bigger than indoor ones i think the closer we get the imitating the conditions outdoor the closer we to having the same yield.

i think its because the sun is bigger than you lights.if you have the time ,space ,and lighting you can grow monsters indoors. going right into 12/12 from veg saves time and money.

I agree. throwing them rigth into 12/12 after veg induces flowering ....right now...saving you a couple weeks of gradual changing, but big big power use. I mean maybe if you started from seed at 18/6 and then graduated from there. Cuz most of that time between 18/6 and 12/12, you wont be flowering, they wont even start.

I feel if you dropped like a half hour every week, you could possibly find minimum possible darkness for your plant to flower, which could be very useful:eyesmoke::mrgreen:
