Controlling stretch in Veg techniques

Im talking about hybrids as most strains are these days.
Show me a 50/50 or even a 70/30 that dont stretch much and then id say thats good breeding.
Many people dont want the indica couch lock stone but want a compact plant with fat buds and the sativa high.
It's the fucking genetics dude. People are starting ask way more out of these plants than what is realistic. Good breeding? You're saying a breeder has some kind of sorcery to control plant height? You cross a......

Med tall x med tall= med tall plants
Short x tall= all over the place
Tall x tall= fucking tall plants
Short x Short= Short plants

It's simply the way genetics work

I run my lights at 12 on, 5.5 off, 1 on, 5.5 off for veg, and 8/16 for flower. Stretch is waaaay down due to plant physiology changes. They don't actually need all that light and it makes them want to stretch for it if they're used to 18 hours. The plants tanks are full after 8.

turn your light on 24hrs during veg and this will reduce stretching . my plants are in week 6 from seed being planted. someone on this forum was saying if stretch happens during the dark period then keep your light on for 24 hrs a day to reduce it, i cant remember who said it but hey i did that since week 3 and my plants have stretched very little, happy days. its working

24 hours is a bad idea. It starves the microbes.

cheers bud, that article was a lot to take in, hopefully ill be 24hr light for 5 weeks veg (seedling under different light) max then 12/12 fingers crossed.

I wouldn't say a breeder is bad cause his plants stretch. I actually prefer plants that stretch and fill in my space. I throw out plants that stay short all the time because they don't fit my style of growing.

But I have a plant count limit and decent sized rooms I'm trying to fill up.

Here is a list of what I can think of I've ran that stays shorter.
Wedding mints from sin city
97 blue moonshine x purple northern lights from @bigworm6969
Honey trap from sensible seed bank
I'm sure there is more but off top of my head that's what I can think of, but I toss short plants and they don't stay around longer than a couple runs so hard to remember.

I hav used the lay down thepot method and start it 2 week into flower , by layin it over on its side the branches u fimmed , topped or created all change direction and with that auxins change but light cycle as well as early on cycle for light at low temps , all keeps the plant from strechin and focuses on bud site and turning up to light .
