They cant give those cool tubes away, anyone who has had one for a while will tell you they smoke bulbs prematurely and dont spread an even canopy.I have three not in use, I hope you have better luck

I just picked up the cool tube in this auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/DIGITAL-AIR-COOL-TUBE-GROW-LIGHT-400-WATT-HPS-MH-400W_W0QQitemZ330348112296QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4cea4829a8&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

It is damn big. 30"x25" with a 6 inch tube. The reflector on it is really nice. I jimmy rigged my little 4 inch vortex up to it and it runs super cool.

On a side note can anyone tell me if a larger fan set on a low speed will make less noise than a small fan full blast? For example a 6" inline at half volts compared to a 4inch at full power.
thanks

you guys are referring to. Cooltubes offer only one advantage, and that is temperature reduction. Those "batwing" style reflectors are HORRIBLE in comparison to the traditional reflectors when it comes to putting the lumens down, and in a good amount/spread

cooltubes are the nuts! i run 2 1m cooltubes with 2 600w hps in each no fans or duct yet and home made reflector!!! and good temps

heres a picture of the cool tube I was talking about in that auction. Its long enough for a bulb at either end and the reflector is really big, like I said 30"x25"

I can tell ya from experience, the cool tubes are no better then a batwing... they are not very good at dispersing the light at all. I used them for about 6 months, then I bought the xxxl 8 inch, and the difference in yield is incredible, like double the yield.. best upgrade I have done yet to my room.
