How about passive that is active. Coolhood
Exactly!

I'm planning on a build with the clu038-1208(048 only available in 6000k), so I'm guess I'll run the 038 at 900ma using the mechatronix 9950 or 9980 with a low powered fan on the top, sucking the air from the bottom and sending to the top.

I was lucky to find a supplier in Brazil that imports ciitiled and mechatronix... But the 048 is not available in 3000k....

Clu038-1208 3000k 80cri price: r$40(u$13)
9950 and 9980 price:
R$35-45(u$12-15)

I believe the 038 will handle micro grows(2x2 grow box), but the idea is to order the 048 @ 3500k...

So my point is, if I run the 038@900ma and I estimate a 69c tc with a 9980, what's the temperature drop if I use a fan extracting the hot air from the heatsink?

Cheers

I haven't read that, only with CO2 injection are higher temperatures really beneficial. I run my LED flower room at 30C during lights on (because it is easy for me to cool at that temperature).

There is the aspect of less infrared with LED. In the words of MrTwist1: "LED grows can afford to be (and should be) a little warmer than HID grows because of the lack of Infrared light in the spectrum heating up the surface of the leaves. From what I have read you can have very happy plants at 85f leaf surface temps."
