What type of lighting are you using? In most cases CPU fans are not strong enough to properly cool a grow box

yeah, i wouldnt suggest using a CPU fan to cool your grow box, id go to walmart and just buy a small desk fan they have rly small ones that work great, and fairly quiet too and dont cost but like.. 3-5 bucks and welcome to RIU aswell :) goodluck with your search on a fan :)

Thanks for welcome DLC

well its my first grow and I have 3 Cfl 26w bulbs inside a 30gal container. I have to cover all 3 sides up and i would like to have an intake and exhaust fan on the uncovered side. The average temp is about 90-92 degrees i figure with the extra airflow the avg temp could be closer to 80-85 degrees.

This setup is strictly temporary until i move them in a few weeks

An option is to pull the fans out on any old computer you have. To get a power supply for them, you use a 12v ac/dc power adapter. I had a couple in a box of old electronics I have. You could probably get one at a thrift store. You cut off the end of the adapter; leave the side that plugs into the wall. Strip the wires about a 1/2 inch on the adapter and the fan and use a wire nut to wire the adapter wires to the corresponding wires on the fan.

Perfect. I am such a pack rat, but when I can go out into my garage find the parts, save a trip to an appliance store, and make something out of nothing, it makes it saving all that shit worth it. Also, there should be two fans in there, a cpu fan and a general ventilation fan. You can hook both up to the same power source.

Go to radio shack, they have computer fans that run on regular 110 and you don't need an adapter, they work great.
