Cops just left my grow

I came home just in time to see 2 sheriffs exiting my front door.
Long story short they were looking for someone with an outstanding warrant
and due to the fact that my front door was open they took a look inside as I`m located out of town
and they thought the person was hiding.
I met them outside and they told me what they were after so I thought it was all
good. Then right when I can swallow again one of them ask what I have in the locked
room and if its a grow. I know everyone talks tough but I have the paperwork
so I said yes and showed them the paper. I OFFERED to show it to them because to me part
of having the paper means I do not need to be a dick and in the process
piss off the police while they wait for a warrant.
They counted the plants took my name and phone number and said all was within limits.
They were very polite and professional but then so was I.
Anyway all in all today sucked donkey balls.
Why was my front door open you may ask? Because I`m a dipshit and did not expect cops at my house.
Lesson learned. Good news is they honored the local law and left me alone.

Part of me is relieved, I now know that they know. I just wish I had not spent 200 for that filter now, lol

Must be nice to live in a neighborhood where you can leave your front door unlocked when you're not home

I do not live in a neighborhood, I live in a forest and have not seen a cop in the last 14 years or so and
my dogs scare most people not carrying guns. But yeah it`s peaceful other than when a relative decides to
bail on drug court.

Wow, lucky. If you grow you lock everything down-always, no exceptions.
i lock, double lock, triple lock and i am on my own nature preserve with no one around for miles. don't wanna some strange jehovah's witness wandering in passed 3 closed gates (which they have had the balls to hop btw) and stumbling into my secret garden :peace:

i don't understand, even if your front door was open don't they still need a warrant or permission to enter your house? or your property for that matter?

I guess because they were looking for a criminal and I was not present and the door was open
they assumed that person was hiding and at that point they were able to step inside. If it would hold up in court I
have no idea. Luckily it wont go there. Plus it was raining like a bastard and they would be wet if they stood outside. lol
Yea I don`t know but it freaked me out. My pup had bleed on the floor and they noticed that apon entering so it got a little more serious at that point. They could claim they say blood and then entered the open door for a safety check. Again I do not know.
I have a few friends who have been visited in this area and no problems for them either. Just have to keep the old nose super clean.

yea, i guess. no harm no foul in this case so it really doesn't matter anyway. plus they would make up a reason anyway to get in the door. haha.
