Cops just saw my plants, what do you think?

So I live in California and today there were cops searching for a lady on the run in my neighborhood. She somehow ended up in my backyard and the cops went through my gate into my backyard to arrest her and take her away. Two or three of the cops saw my plants. I have four plants, one full size and three clones (two of which I literally got yesterday). They didn't mention anything about the plants even though it was obvious they saw them. They seemed to care more about arresting the lady. Once they left my backyard with her in handcuffs they kind of lingered in my front yard next to their cars talking with each other.

Should I worry about anything else happening? Would they have already done something about the plants if they were going to? Should I be worried about them coming back with a warrant? I don't have a medical marijuana card but I grow my plants for my sister who is a patient and lives in an apartment complex where she isn't allowed to grow it. Any honest advice would be greatly appreciated, obviously I'm a little disturbed about this. Can't believe my luck...

If I wasn't legal, and the cops saw my plants for sure; I would immediately tear down.

You would be safer to organize as a collective than to try to meet the point of caregiver if you are not housing her. Frankly the easiest is to simply go get your own medical marijuana rec from a physician. But a future dated rec won't help you. Frankly I'd follow the other guys advice and I would get rid of those plants. I would assume they will be back.

What a shame. It's going to be hard to get rid of those beauties if it comes to that.

go find a nice safe spot for them off of your property if you can, and wait for things to blow over.. otherwise, i'd chop down and cut my loses instead of having to worry about them coming back, only this time with a warrant in hand and arresting you over one plant, so not worth it..

best advice dont freak out

Bad move on doing an open outdoor grow in the background without a written doctors approval, but that's not going to help you. What will help you now is one of the these choices-

You can get rid of them, with no trace left behind or if you want to finish them out, go to a major city in California if your not already in one and find a MMJ doctor that will be willing to backdate a written recommendation by at least 3 months. If you were in LA I know you could eventually find a MMJ doctor willing to do it even if you had to go thru 30 different doctors and don't turn loose any money until they have the paper work written out, the random factor will eventually kick in and you will get a backdated MMJ recommendation. If you do go this route, be expecting to find resistance at first but don't give up.

(This plan won't work for submitting it in to the CA MMJ state registry because if the time lapse but it will at least give you a written doctor's approval and some legal ground to stand on)

The doctor will tell you that you can't submit the registration to the state with it being backdated, tell them you just want a written approval but backdated and don't want to be in the registry. With all the money hungry MMJ doctors in a place like Los Angeles for example, some doctor would eventually be OK with it, but do not tell these doctors the reason why you want this written approval backdated. It might take a lot of driving and leg work, maybe even getting told to leave the property and some door slams, but you can get a backdated approval if you want one bad enough. Also, if you do this, do not park your vehicle close to these MMJ offices where someone can walk outside and get your tag number if you are denied and told to leave, park out of sight from these MMJ offices and do not show any ID until you find a doctor with dollar signs in his eyes willing to OK a backdated written approval.

They will be back if they saw it. I've found that most times they will lay low for a while until you think it's all clear (sometimes months while they observe you), then BAM you've got 15 cars in your yard at 2am and they are tearing everything apart inside.

My parents (who I live with and are aware of me growing) keep convincing me that the cops wont be back. I'm not so sure. I probably will be getting rid of my plants.

Can anyone elaborate on first-time offenders for marijuana cultivating in California? I've heard that if the grow is just for personal use and if its the offender's first time that it can be knocked down to something along the lines of community service or a fine. Any truth to that?

not worth tainting a "first time offender" status if you still have one bud. relocate or cut em down and find a nice

I can't believe you're rationalizing this.

You have... four plants? And you're risking going to jail, or having a criminal record at the very least? Do you want to travel? Do you have a passport? Is it worth losing the ability to travel for four plants?

Tear down, wait for 3 months; and start again if you're sure it's clear. No buzz, (or profit if that's your bag) is worth a crim rec. Fuck that noise, JMHO.

I think i'm probably just gonna get rid of these plants and make sure I get a card for next season. Damn it's too bad but like you guys said, not worth risking anything over.

Wouldn't you agree that it's better to rationalize before making a big decision? And I am definitely leaning towards getting rid of the plants in case that wasn't clear, although I really wish I wouldn't have to but that's just not the reality.

If they didn't ask you for your card immediately I doubt they care. It's not like you had a forest in your backyard.

Just tell a Doc you "now" suffer from anxiety and get a card. The date isn't important, as the plants aren't even yours unless you are legal.

I think they would have popped you then if they wanted to, and not give you the time to clean up. They would need a search warrant now, and maybe they figure it wouldn't be worth the time for one plant and a couple of clones. If you are in a small town they might waste the time, but in a decent sized city, they probably won't bother because they have bigger fish to fry. What are the penalties for growing 4 plants where you live? I live in CT which has some pretty tough laws, and 1st offence is a misdemeanor with a fine. Say for instance your father agrees to take the hit if shit happens, which he thinks won't. If he wants to accept responsibility, then so be it. I'm thinking that for your future grows you will be looking over your shoulder unless you can get a card. If nothing happens now you probably will be OK in the future, so talk to Dad and see what he thinks. Good luck

In WA. a person with a MMj card can designate another person to grow up to 15 plants for them. The person just need to provide the paperwork designating you has their provider. You can be the provider for up to I think 10 people but you top out at 45 plants. Does Ca. allow designated growers? You should look into that.

They did not do anything because they did not have "right's" to be in your yard and observe the plants. They were chasing a suspect whom ended up in your yard, they are allowed to chase into private property.

Even if you were doing lines off an illegal immigrants ass while waiving your black market AK in the air when they came in. They probably would have taken you to jail but you would walk out the same day and the charges would never stick.

They were probably discussing if they can see the plants or smell them without being inside the yard so they could attempt to pursue you.

Find a collective in your area, allot of good people will rescue plants in need of a temporary or permeate home.
