Hello all,

2 plants, was planning to switch to flower soon but problems are becoming worse. Leaves on sativa plant are yellowing in new growth and folding. Indica is having all sorts of problems lol. The soil is an organic living soil mix. Perhaps it's over fertilized? Thanks for any suggestions or help :)

It's not getting what's in the soil. Either to strong or you have fucked up the soils ph. I see nitrogen deficiency, burnt tips, and folding leaves. All could be from over feeding or ph locking out food

My guess is you were told not to over water organic soil so you hardly water it. What's all the other shit growing in the pots

Hey man idk if you know much about no-till style soil, but living mulch is pretty common. Idk about N deficiency, if that was the case the lower leaves wouldn't be so dark. Plus N deficiency responds well to compost tea, but that's done nothing for these plants. Soil is watered everyday and I check to make sure the bottom is moist.

Maybe it's pH, ideally would get a soil test but it's too late for that

Most of the life lives in the top layers of soil. Mulch is helpful for living soil. But like Buddha said what's the soil, and what do you add to it. Also what water are you using, ppm, ect?

My first thought when I see twisted leaves is pH though. Adding quality EWC on top can help resolve a lot of issues too.

What is this “ organic living soil mix “ you speak of ?
it's basically coots mix or similar to buildasoil mixes. peat base, ewc/compost, pumice, rice hulls, clay. was amended with alfalfa meal, grd, kelp, fish bone meal, fish meal, oyster flour. gypsum. 1 grow completed after mixing it. re amended with fish meal, fish bone meal, and gypsum. 1/2 cup or 1 cup per cubic foot depending on the amendment. fish meal and FBM added at .5 cups/cu ft, gypsum added a couple weeks ago top dress. sorry for the lack of info

i'm using spring or distilled water, it's either around 200 or 0 ppm. have already used quality compost and ewc extracts several times, brewed some aerated compost teas, some sprouted seed tea. that's all. thanks for the help

Could be too much. Maybe too much Ca. What's the pH of the water you're using? When I see stuff like that I add a little citric acid to my water and that solves that twisting.

Ca can lockout a bunch of stuff.

half a gallon in a 15 gallon pot is next to nothing. Your better off watering properly to saturation. You probably have dry and hydrophobic patches in your medium dropping ph in certain areas creating a lockout scenario.

i'll try this out. the pH of the water is pretty close to neutral, around 6.5. was it a mistake to add gypsum? oops lol

ahh yeah you and others are probably right. been a while since i've grown and kinda forgot basic stuff like this lol. gonna start watering till excess pools on the bottom.
I was gonna say that too. Add some yucca.
second yucca. My issues this time round were caused by compaction and hydrophobic patches in my soil. bang on a bout calcium too. I put too much dolo in my organic mix forgetting that a living environment will buffer itself.
sounds good on the yucca, i have some lying around so that's easy. thanks for the suggestions, guys

could i ask, what would you guys recommend for the potential Ca lockout? i think i made the problem worse when i added gypsum lol. would lemon juice and yucca help this? was thinking of using some humic acid powder as well

Acids will help flush it out. Yucca probably helps too.
