Could weed become legal? Bill would lift federal restrictions on marijuana

Found this an interesting brownie point in our direction...

WASHINGTON -- A bill unveiled Thursday in Congress would end federal raids on marijuana providers across the country.
Federal Drug Enforcement agents would no longer be involved in cracking down on marijuana manufacturing and use. Instead, states would make and enforce their own marijuana laws.
Republican presidential candidate Congressman Ron Paul, Oakland Congresswoman Barbara Lee and several Democrats are introducing the bill. They said America's war on drugs is a failure and that there are too many conflicts between state and federal laws.

Great to read about. I doubt we have the people right people in the right places willing to do what is necessary to get a bill like this passed though. Even though it makes sense, I wonder how many elected officials are there willing to make a public vote that may seem pro-marijuana. Politics...

Regardless, this can at least be taken as a sign of progress.

If only there was a way that the citizens could take back control of government.

I feel that this will be shot down, but if the situation keeps getting attention, I think something may end up happening..(over time of course) ONLY because of our economic situation. Even people that would never touch pot in a million years, (missin out) Would have to agree that cutting this "war" on marijuana out, federally, would generate so much money..billions a year,..(Course government would find something else stupid to spend it on.) But a "key" step in the right direction.. With no FEDS,..just think how long it would take for 16 med-states to rub off on the remaining states? Full-blown legal states, or just med, I vote for anything in the right direction.. What you guys thinking on this?

the sad part is they know they are doing the wrong thing by keeping it illegal. They are to worried about fall out from the big wigs that pull the strings. If legal the amount of jobs lost in law inforcement and corections would be stagering. You know damn well they dont wanna deal with that as they are trying to get re alected or move up in the senit. Not to mention the courts being over run with appeals from inmates that are in jail for something that is legal now. It will be a shit storm of epic scale. Dont ever think those up tight law makers dont sit around in the back yard of some judge smoking kush talkin about how fuck up shit would get if dope were legalised tommarow. They dont wanna step on all the toes of the people that are helping there kids get into over priced collages.

rant over .............and im sorry about my spelling, my spell check doesnt work on this site for some reason. Me stupud me kno

I don't doubt that some government guys are smoking better than we are...funny story..:

Went to local head shop a while back just when the K2 was getting attention.. Owner ask me to partake,..kinda nervous at first..keep in mind that not many had heard of this stuff yet..I finally felt compelled to toke a bowl with him..tasted like crap but i was knocked off my rocker...funny thing is the people who were buying this stuff because drug test did not detect it..Lawyers, some local judges, and some head honchos from a local power company.( Duke Power Co.) Its AMAZING who would smoke herb if it wasn't included in drug test...

I'd like to see the HUD laws on cannabis change as well. Too many people risk eviction even though their relative state may allow cannabis cultivation/consumption.
