Countdown to Apocolypse

Doesn't it seem like a waste to keep building weapons only to take them apart and then worry about radioactive material? Since we use pretty much none of them let's only build half as many and take that extra money and put it back into the budget and keep the damn libraries open.

man you guys don't let up for nothin.....
your ok with me, zen.
I'd like to side up with ya, I do.
but dam man you only make it harder to do so.
No check list of what is and isn't spent on nukes.
come'on dude, Help me, help you.
You're alright with me too

I'm not given the list of every dollar spent by the government, but I don't believe they are pouring money into nuclear weapons like they did in the 50s. A lot of money goes into research and development for the next cutting edge technology. As far as I know there hasn't been a new development in a nuclear weapon for awhile, unless its classified, but honestly what is the point? Do we really want a weapon more powerful than a nuke? I think we are more focusing on anti-nukes than nukes.

Not sure what you are talking about with these libraries, that sounds like a local budget problem rather than a national one.

Again, I don't believe we are in the process of building new nukes, we have hundreds of thousands lying around already. They could be put to good use and turn them into a nuclear power plant but the public is still wary about that. Its essentially safe and I don't think I'd care if I lived by one.

You don't think local libraries closing are a national problem? What about the generations that grow up without access to libraries? You realize that they eventually will be running this country.

Bush has bankrupted the country with this war, we can't afford for it to continue. He should be impeached, tried and hanged.

I remember reading about that, proponents claim that Chernobyl was caused by unsafe procedures, and that a power plant today would be totally safe. Not sure if Chernobyl was from an old war head or anything, but as mankind ventures further in technology there will be mistakes. Unfortunate, but at least we learn.

Waving one arm in the air....

I know, I know, we can use them to make dirty bombs, or sell it to the right people to be used against our 'enemies'....

Cooties is a word in North American English, used by children, referring to a fictitious disease or condition, often infecting members of the opposite sex.[1] One catches cooties through any form of bodily contact, proximity, contact with an infected person's possessions, or third-party transmission. In prepubescent children, it effectively serves as a device for enforcing separation of the sexes.

Ya know, cooties.

No, I did not get the memo that I had to be a strict constitutionalist, like libertarians. Though I do agree with much they stand for however my biggest problem with like Ron Paul was his foreign policy. I will admit that we should be a little more isolationist than we are currently, however his immediate Iraq withdrawal is vastly flawed.

And what do you want to know about experience? Obama has none? 3 years in the senate vs McCain's 20. Do you know how many times McCain was reelected? We don't really know much about Obama and he hasn't had an opportunity to mess up. After all the ridiculous heat liberals through on Palin, they really couldn't pull up half the crap on McCain, who has been on the table much longer. Kind of interesting.
And how does that qualify McCain to be president?
As I stated earlier in this thread, no one is qualified to be president until they get there. No amount of experience as a governor, senator or congressman nor does any amount military service qualify anyone to be in that job.

To be honest, McCain is too much of a hothead to be in that job, his lack of knowledge in economics is another reason he was disqualified.

His constant telling of old stories during his campaign didn't qualify him, his lack of mastery of the subject matter during the debates made him look like a fool, thus disqualified him.

You see people saw right through McCain.

On the other hand Obama had the knowledge of Economics, had a mastery of the subject matter during the debates and he didn't tell old stories and reminisce about the past.

I do agree that we should take care of our own problems before we take care of the world's problems, if that makes me isolationist then so be it.
