couple of easy outdoor questions

Hi there, been growing indoor a long time but am planning to grow some outdoors this summer.

Had a couple of questions

1-how important is ph outdoors? It would be very convenient to just give them rain water

2-how about nutrients? I guess if you had them in containers they would be a lot more useful eh?

3-good (preferably natural) way to keep bugs at bay? I grew a few plants outside before and bugs were fucking ridiculous! there's also a hemp field around here..maybe 15 miles from my place, that we like to go and take a look at sometimes, and man do bugs love that shit!

1. get a cheap soil ph kit.. depending on the soil quality your plants would be fine between 5.5-7 some strain are picky though
2. if your conciencous about your environment use organic teas or eco friendly nute lines.
3. hot pepper wax sprays , neem, tangle foot... ect.

Depends on the location / topography, wind direction etc. Pollen can be swept up in air currents and go a lot farther than 15 miles if there is nothing to stop it. In most places though, surrounding vegetation or some other physical features prevent it from going that far.

For instance in the northern part of the USA and southern Canada, there's a lot of non cannabis vegetation that pollen sticks to and keeps it from traveling long distances. I've read in Morocco or Spain huge clouds of pollen can travel sometimes hundreds of miles.

was a little worried about the pollen too, but I think I'll be okay. Lots of trees and other crops all around here. Wow that's crazy.

I've been only growing outdoors for 12 yrs...still learning...ph...add a bit of dolomite lime to your soil mix...bugs...just let natures predator bugs get them...nutes...feed the soil..I add some bone meal at flowering...but my soil is certified organic..I feed organic food 3 times a yr....the plants will take what they need...hth

Do you plant in pots or straight into the ground? I had these damn worms that cacooned inside my buds last time i grew outdoors

Bugs can be very rough. Lately been using an all round insecticide in area before planting. Mix 1 part diatomaceous earth with 1 part Borax. Never apply on plant only ground under and around. Apply with ketchup bottle found in housewares. It blows like dust. Always be wary of cut worm and broken missing spots. Remove by hand if possible. If spray becomes necessary use 1tbs Dawn simply clean per gallon. Spray directly on Bug. Use some urine around plant to deter pests.
