So.................I finally found a source of crab shell 'meal' and shrimp shell 'meal' on ebay for a reasonable price and arrived it in the mail within a couple of days.....................I think the term 'meal' was being used a little loosely, this is what turned up LOL

At least there's no questioning of the ingredients pmsl.

What do peeps think? Should I roast em in the oven for a bit before pounding them up?

Wow, that's quality stuff. Break it down and throw it in the soil/compost. No oven

Hahaha holy shit. Pretty ballsy to call that meal and sell it. But heyyy that's probably why it's cheaper, they didn't spend the labor grinding up. Looks like good quality though! Got a link for your source? I'd love to throw some of that in my compost pile.

Looks AMAZING to me. Check out neptunes harvest for crab meal, it's very similar to what Don posted up but a lot more broken down and ready to go. I bought some DTE crab meal a while back, while it may be good the texture is nothing like my neptunes harvest. Its white and flaky, no real substance.... Nh is Amazing stuff though , sometimes I'll find little claws and such.

Job done, it's now in my next soil, but I'm 1 more blender down, hahaha, if I was patient and let the motor cool down I'd save a fortune
lol, That crab looks tough. I get mine from a company over here on the east coast called 'Neptunes Harvest' they have the best quality crab meal I could find. Looks just like yours but more broken down, not that expensive either..

In going to start using shrimp meal as it has a little more phosphorus than crab and I'd like that little kick. Most of my ingredients come from the sea, but I won't touch fish anything..especially fish meal...Yucky Mucky

I make a lot of shrimp dishes, but I haven't done one since I started my compost pile. I'm about to start again and start grinding the shells up after I clean em and throwing em on the pile.
