Creating My First New Strain "OG 1 Quenobi"

Hey, First time breeding a new strain so i though id make a journal to track progress, and maybe get some info bongsmilie

...

strains involved
Male: TGA, Querkle
Female: Reserva Privada, OG Kush
new strain "OG 1 Quenobi"

as for what iv done so far, pretty simple...as soon as the male showd sex i removed it into a closet to continue flowering....when the pollen was dropd i collected some in a container and froze it, then to pollenate my OG Kush i took a leaf that pollen had droped onto and rubbed it onto the OG kush plant...so now i can kinda see the hairs reddin up and pullin back, so i assume its a success..
both of the plants are extreemly healthy and have had explosive growth on a day to day basis, so i hope the offspring will be the same way :eyesmoke:

I wanted to try a little pollen chucking myself (what your doing is not breeding, but it's a start).
I need to get a book though cause I have no idea what traits to look for in a male, and how to know whether or not
a male will add potency or resin... I'd just like to have some knowledge before I start slamming plants together.

iv read the breeding breakdown in the jason king cannabible...i tryd to make sense of it, but imma be honest it all just seemd like doing process of elimenation...like finding the dominant and resessive traits is not a sure thing, but you can get a idea of what your passing down by generations of breeding...but like you said, it is a healthy lookin male and with no hermiing goin on so its a start, just hopin to get lucky if i have a shitload of beans,i can find good male and female and breed them to stabalize my fav pheno, but thanks for the stoppin by and the comment bro

.alright, so this is like a week-10 days or so after pollination, lookin good to me so far, swelling nice....also the OG Kush mother is doing g.ood, smell is strong and resin is really producing, and still not a sign of hermiing, would really be a shame if the OG hermis and these seeds are useless bongsmilie

been a while...lot of shit gone down...but, i started documenting this here, and ill try to finish, just foy my own futur reference, since it seems nobody has taken a liken to my cross bongsmilie

... anyway, this is OG 1 Quenobi, at roughly a week after sprout, i got a good feelin about this one :blsmoke:

thx man! due to my local medical marijuan laws, i could only grow out 1 bean...but, i germinated like 20, and all of them germd, so i just took the biggest/ healthiest one after 24 hrs :blsmoke:

i really hope to get a nice OG dominat plant, that also turns purple, that would be the jackpot IMO, peace! bongsmilie

awesome name & you should get some wicked colors to boot. I'm growin JPS's Gremlin & it's a cross of Querkle & Rainbow Indica. super branchy; big yielder. but you have to do either lollipopping or topping; it doesn't do good just letting it ride natural style; too much popcorn bullshit. you need to pop at least half those beans to get a good selection pool to choose from to start stabilizing for desirable traits. lookin good bro!

People are always asking if I would breed with this plant. Well to be honest I am positive it's located in the Space Queen f2's. Even though we used the largest and slightly different phenotype to breed with, when you grow out the f2's your going to get a slight variation. The smaller phenotypes that are more resinous, harder buds and a more triangular shape that's closer to the Romulan side of things, as the larger and rounded buds are to me more a Cindy trait. I have a weird theory I will share with you, but it has very little scientific basis and is based more on my observations. It seems when you grow out a lot of seeds, the strain has an infinite amount of potency to be distributed. The larger, leafier females that yield more and grow fastier and easier are NEVER as potent as the smaller strains that seem to put more effort into resin production and less into yield. Therefore these strains are potent as hell, and this is the foundation of how I select my mother plants. There are certainly always exceptions like Jacks Cleaner that is extremely potent and yields well. And there are certainly many others, but take Og kush. I don't grow it, but isn't it a PIA to grow and low yielding? Think of all the super potent extremely resinated strains that don't yield great: G-13, Apollo, Genius, OG Kush and others are all known to be incredibly potent. It's a theory anyway.

im actually openly against TGA(subcool), its not cause every querkle female i had turned hermi at 5 1/2 weeks flower... its cause when i sent him a message about it, he completly ignored me as if it didnt matter cause he already got my $$...but i also have heard of other great growers having problems with the stability of his genetics, i am starting to believe it is his Space Queen Male that carries the hermi gene...but, these are just my opinions bongsmilie

Hmmm, that sucks. I've had great luck with his gear. You're right, his genetics are pretty unstable. Double-edged sword I guess. That's why he recommends germing a good number of seeds and finding a strong mother to keep. You're going to have issues with that growing your strain out as well. That's why I wish you had the ability to at least keep a couple of the seedlings instead of just one. There is going to be differentiating variables with those beans that will either need to be preserved or culled if you wish to attempt to stabilize the strain within the parameters of your liking

thanks for the info man, sounds like youv done some breedin yourself? and, by double edged sword, did you mean you had hermi issues? and if so, what strains? just askin cause im tryn to get a good idea if its mostly strains crossed with the SQ male...but, i do believe in giving credit where credit is due... my Querkle that had least bananas (only 1 that i spotted) i let finish, was a beautiful plant, kinda light yeilder, but color was best iv ever seen, taste was great too

ok, so these girls (hopefully) been in the flower room for about 2-3 days...so i should know the sex soon...but the first 2 pics are the OG 1 Quenobi...and the last pic is another strain i bred Nevada Indica (Lavender x og Kush), both strains are shoing OG dominant traits as far as i can tell(from the streaching and lack of internod growth in veg.), also i should mention, these girls didnt get the best out of thir timein veg, they were about 2 ft away from a 400w MH...but i got a shitload more beans of each strain, so im not trippin :bigjoint:
