Crop #3: Deadhead OG, PurpleBerry BX, Chem 40G, Blue Cheese, and Qrazy Train

LOL, and I have been tending toward fewer, larger plants.

...but I have to report that the yield of Crop #4 was a low as I expected.

The big-screen just kept me from really knowing what my babies were wanting.

The smoke is crazy strong. I have tested the Qrazy Train,
Chem 4 OG, and Blue Cheese.

The BC is delicious and smells wonderful, but its strength is
not up with the Chem and QT. They are crusty.

I just clipped the Somango from the hanging branches and
I got a quart of buds.

I got about as much from a 2 gallon SOG element back in Crop #2!

Not to worry....several things to remember:

1. Got great smoke. I and my college buds are very happy, and will be.

2. I am in learning-mode. Among other things, this means that I am
intentionally spinning all tumblers as fast as I can and still be able to
judge results. This is to say that everything is an experiment for me,
and if something works, then I am just as likely to move away from
it, considering it examined. (think of NFL pre-season...you work on the
bits that you do *not* know about yet)

3. New plants already in tent. No screen. I will be trying the bamboo
stakes method to support buds, and will control the number of tops better.

But, if you (LK) are thinking of trying SOG, then I cannot argue against that.
It rocked for me, and I will try it again.

....but a SOG really benefits from using many clones of the same plant,
and, again, this is where I am way more random....I am trying new breeds
each grow as well.

I really do look forward to when I can decide on a breed and dial in
some real yields, but I am not disheartened by a low yield.

Here is a shot of Somango:
Somango-crustiness.jpg

The tent is already populated:
IMG_1670.jpg

It has been interesting, seeing what would either mature sufficiently,
and/or show sex, as I put together the plants for this next crop.

Blue OG just looks so gross and twisted up that I set it aside for this crop.

My Kosher Kush main-line still needs a couple weeks at least...I am not
sure that I will not have it sit out this flowering round as well. (I am at
four heads at this point)

BTW: I decided to use slot #9 above to another Somango. I want to
get more of this. :0)

Take care all,

JD

P.S. Papa, I am happy to help you get started growing edible mushrooms.

There is a pretty good forum here, and I can recommend The Shroomery or
Myco-Tek as well.

Good luck!

After hearing all your comments, and seeing your grow logs, I am thinking SOG will work nicely for me. We have very similar setups so I can learn a lot from your grows. I am sorry your yield wasn't what you wanted, but its good your taking it as a learning experience :). So with all these strains your running, are you attempting to find a few favorites and run those, or are you planning on keeping all these strains alive? I to get carried away in my strains lol. At least for me right now the girl scout cookies is a cross of cherry pie, so hopefully they will grow similar.

As for the mushrooms, that would be great. I will start researching it all again. I know I still have a pressure cooker and mason jars somewhere, just gotta find them. At one point I had made about 8 mason jars full and ready to be injected with some cubensises, but they never came lol.

Yes, it is a very interesting breed.

The friend that suggested that we split a pack is more advanced,
and is using this breed in some crosses.

The only female pheno that I found* grew the very pretty buds
that you saw above, but TBH the flavor was not the "crunchberries"
that I was hoping for.

My Bros love it though...lol

*I popped my last two beans a month or so ago. I am waiting for
pre-flowers, and hope to try another female PB-BX next Crop.

Take care, and thanks for stopping by.

Barney's Farm

It is a great yielder, but the potency lags behind Qrazy Train,
Chem 4 OG, and Somango.

I will not be keeping the pheno I have.

Thats disappointing to hear :(. I been wanting a good blueberry cheese for a long time. What did yours smell like? I am gonna go dig thru your thread looking for pics lol

See my comment in your thread.

The genetics were strong, very strong. Every clone,
every time, grew into a big yielding monster.

I am sure that there are phenos that keep this vigor
while being a bit more potent than the pheno that
I got.

Remember that it is a cup winner.

Yea thats what sold me on it to be honest. Got a few cup winners in this recent purchase. I love the blueberry crosses, blueberry headband being on of the top of my list. But that's better for outdoor then indoor. Anyway, would you mind checking out those 2 pics I posted on my grow and see what you think the issue is...never had clone issues like this has got me pretty stumped.

stay lit,

Hello all,

I wanted to add an endorsement for The Breeder's Boutique.

The beans that I ordered from them arrived yesterday...like
less than a week since purchase. Wow.

They gave me 50% off and then they threw in a free pack of
Cheese Surprise (well named ;0)

Take care,

JD

Not at all.

It was hilarious...(I get like a kid in a candy store)

1. After a discussion of Lemon flavored strains with Lemon King,
I initially went for Psycho Killer.

2. I wanted Dog for a while, so I added that. Easy, that.

3 and 4. What the heck...gimme all those fruits! -> Smelly Cherry and Sour Cherry

Then they threw in Cheese Surprise. Hoo hoo!

(I emailed to tell them that if allowed, I'd do it again ;0)

I am getting better at sequencing efforts, with one Veg and one Flower area.
I will be popping the beans for the next crop soon. Lemon time!

Onward and upward,

JD

That would be the hardest for me, picking out which strains from them to buy. All their strains look and sound top notch. Never seen a BB grow that wasn't frosty and tasting looking to the max. one of these days when money allows, I am so buying all their strains lmao.

They wrote back to let me know that they'd let me know
when they have another special.

I can enjoy the thought in the meanwhile.

What would the next five be?

Deep Blue
Engineer's Dream
Dippy Ellsy
Southern Charm
Black SS

Do any BB growers want to defend those left out?

Deep Psychosis, DPQ, Qrazy Quake....

Good stuff!

LOL, yeah, but which of the second five do we bump?

I have read/seen good things about Southern Charm,
Black SS, and Dippy Ellsy. ....and Engineer's Dream
just sounds too cool (I am an engineer).

Take care,

Hello all,

I am ending this thread with my thank you for your kind attention.

Crop #4 is being enjoyed:

Qrazy Train is Tangy and very stoney. Thumbs up.
Chem 4 OG is probably the strongest of the breeds of this Crop. Keeper.
Deadhead OG gave one pheno that is very tasty and strong, but my pheno was not a keeper
Blue Cheese was the best yielder, but not the strongest smoke. Very tasty. Not a keeper.
Somango is already a keeper. :0)

I will be starting a thread for Crop #5, which is Vegging in the tent, is:

DNA Genetics LA Confidential
Reserva Privada OG Kush
Reserva Privada OG Kush #18
Reserva Privada Skywalker Kush
Reserva Privada Purple Wreck
Reserva Privada Kosher Kush (my first mainlined plant...it needs more Veg!)
Reserva Privada Sour Kush AKA Headband
Cannaventure Seeds Purple Berry BX II
Sensi Jack Herer

Clearly I am still enjoying wandering around a bit.

I write that knowing that I have yet to equal the yield of my first SOG,
but that was mostly clones from the same strong AK-47 mother.

The new thread is here:
[h=2]Javadog's Next Adventure: A Reserva Privada Hoard + Sensi Jack Herer, LA Con, PB-BXII[/h]Take care all,

Engineer's Dream is one of the most beautiful plants I have ever seen. Right up there with Somango and NYCD. Also took advantage of the summer sale, all of mine are going into The Vault though, gods alone know when I'll have the space to run more. Looking forward to your next thread, this one was SICK.
