Crop is ready for harvest, chop with lights off or on

Its just a random thought that popped up in my head, I dont really want to much of a deep explanation I'm just wondering if any fellow growers have taken there girls down while lights came on and while lights were off and if there was really any difference. Thanks and have a rad day r.I.u peeps!

I chop before lights turn on in the morning but I have no scientific data to prove that's the right method lol

Thanks for the input dude. I just wanted to clarify that because I put alot of bar work and time into this harvest and its my best and wouldnt want to end up with shitty buds. Another fellow grower in my area told me the same thing and I trust him dudes got over 15 years of growing and I read a article by niko escondido from high times and he said that plants harvested during lights on taste bad and burn weird because of the chlorophyll being used at the time

I've done over 20 harvests in my perpetual grows over the last two years, and I assure you... there's absolutely no difference what time of the plant's day you decide to cull them.

Old wives tales of nutrients shooting around the plant from the roots as soon as the lights came on, chop with the light on so you can see is my advice.

Yeah i say lights on for vision purposes. Makes no difference otherwisd.

Probably doesn't make a measurable difference.

What I've heard though, is that people chop in the am because the trichomes regenerate overnight. Also some people leave it in the dark for a day or two thinking that it will use up the chlorophyll it produced under the light and taste less leafy.

No scientific data for either, just what I have heard!

I, too, have heard of people leaving it the dark for an extra day before harvest.

I let mine sit in 48 hours of darkness before I chop. I heard it stresses the plant to produce more trichs.

They regenerate at night, and the light actually degrades them during the day. Harvesting with the lights on will not damage your product or make it taste shitty. Drying too fast or drying improperly will most likely be the biggest factor in whether your bud tastes like it smelled at the end of its life or not.

I will also say that I've experienced the "green taste" fading more rapidly on plants harvested in the middle of the dark cycle or before lights on as opposed to plants harvested during the light cycle. Which doesn't matter because if you dry your product properly the green taste and smell will be gone eventually either way.

I leave mine in the dark for 48 hours then I chop. Just my preference

i like to pull any plants i'm gonna harvest that day right before the lights come on, and keep them in a relatively low light area until i get around to them.

there's probably not a huge difference, just how i choose to do it.

I think there is a difference if you cut when your plants are thirsty tho

the main difference i notice is that they wilt quicker once cut. gotta harvest less branches at a time that way. not optimal for maximumyieldsbro.

i wet trim, and that is easier to do when they are more turgid.
