Cross breeding for more trichs

I've got a Purple OG going that's a heavy yielder, but not high on the trichs. I have a chemdawg going that is. Considering cross breeding them next run, but I just wanted to get an idea of how many times I would have to cross it for the genetics to be semi stable with the heavy yield and higher trich production. I have some basic bio and bot knowledge and know that F1's are the most stable, but I'm not sure I can get what I am seeking in one cross. Would I be best just searching for the closest thing I want in my F1 seeds and then start cloning, or cross my F1's with what I'm seeking and pick from the f2's? Maybe this can't even be answered until I see how close I can get with one cross. Thanks for the input guys!

F2s will have the greatest variation, to truly stabilize the traits you want you are looking at F4 to F5. F2s are great as they have enough variation to find what you are looking for and breed further, but obviously due to variation you will need to run larger numbers to get larger selections to find what you are looking for, at least to find all of the possible options.
Groups are great for this, spread the seeds around, and have everyone keep you up to date and help you find that special plant or those special plants. This is why i love being in Colorado!!
Good luck, and have fun with your creations. Just a thought on a cross to increase trichs, either tang-tang or mob boss, both have more trichs than you can believe.

You would have to grow a lot of plants to be able to stabilize a genotype.
Might as well just breed your two favorites and enjoy the F1's. All the seeds will be heterozygous for the genotypes of the two strains, so if its good, you have that same plant over and over... But the point is that all F1 plants are genetically identical.
Realistically creating, through your own work, the plant that you want.... will take years and years.

Hopefully the first cross works then... Otherwise looks like my project just got a lot bigger lol Not sure I could keep both of those strains around that long. I like them, but there are just too many other options I want to try

what is the desired result? in essense of you want just a plant that you can clone that has the characteristic that you want you need not go farther than an F1, but with F2s you could find a more refined version of what you want because there will be more phentypical variations.

if your desire is to make a supply of seeds that will produce these plants on a pretty regular basis you will be breeding up and beyond the F6 range.

Not interested in supplying seeds or mass producing them. Just never seen such a heavy producing POGK, but it doesn't quite have enough trichs, so I just want the best of both worlds. Figured crossing it back with cd would be the best way to keep it true to it's original genetics while accomplishing my goal. I'm sure i'll like the first cross, but if it's not where I want it to be (I'm picky), I'll give it another try or two until I just can't handle having those two genetics in my room anymore
