Cupboard grow in soil

Hello all. As im new in growing i will need a few helpful hints on how to go about this the right way. For a start, ive had this plant growing for about maybe 3 months, maybe 4.. Its a big healthy looking plant but abit 'Leggy' or as i like to say "Skimpy". This is because i had this plant growing under two 2foot GroLux fluro lights and from what i already knew wasnt good enough for vegging or flowering but i decided to give it a try anyway.

At about 1month into the process of 12/12 i clearly got the message that it was not going to flower. The plant looked sad and droopy. so i switched the lights back to 24/7. And its been like that for the last month or two. its a much healthier plant now. So i decided to buy a 250w HPS which my local hydro shop told me would be good for flowering. Here is a picture of the light Picture 025.jpg

Today is the 2nd day of 12/12. Ive stopped feeding neuts, ive put a fan in the cupboard which keeps it really cool.
Am i going the right way about this? Any info would really help!
