Cure with old stems?

had a random idea to increase curing speed in the initial phase after drying. I'm thinking about putting old dry stems at the bottom of the jar then placing a cut out screen on top of the dry stems. Then fill the jar as normal. Would the dry stems help pull moisture out of the air to speed up the process? I realize this would only help in the first phase of the curing process. Thanks for any thoughts.
