Curing for vape use?

Wondering if curing is mostly good for those who plan to smoke it or if it will help for vape use also?

it will definently help. drying and curing properly help your bud to burn evenly, taste, look, and smell a lot better, you wont get a stale hit (yellow smoke) and it will be smooth if you have done it right. this applys for every method you use your still applying some type of heat to your bud. if some part of the bud burns while the other part dosen't you have a shitty hit. with a vape you should be about the best taste so take your time and do it right.

you can get away with bud not completly dry with vap i tried it vap dryes it as it vaps it
Thats what I was wondering, I mean I plan to dry it but in my limited experience with both smoking and vaping(back after a 30 year absence) I tried a few different types of weed from incredibly stinky(you could smell it the second it came in the house) to a nice pleasant herby smell, the vape didnt seem that much different (and I have a good vaporizer(does bags, not a handheld), I checked all kinds of reviews)

Nice to have someone else who vapes consider the best way to dry and cure, which may be different than their smoking counterparts. Moisture plays a slightly different role in Vape weed than smoked weed. With smoking, the interest is in a steady, even burn. For vaping the interest is in reducing the likelihood of singing/combustion, and in slowing the heating process of the vaped sample-- allowing flavor to come through.

When you vape, the small sample of weed goes through a range of temperatures as the most volatile compounds vaporize (turpinoids, or flavors), then water, then THC, CBD and CBN, and lastly starches and cellulose (burning). The good thing about moisture in the bud is that while it is boiling away, flavorings have more time to vaporize. Too much moisture, though, and the weed heats unevenly-- burning the outside, while on the inside, flavors don't have the chance to come out.

Curing can help the flavor of vaped weed, because it breaks down the starches into alcohol. Alcohol vaporizes at a low temperature and adds to the flavor. Hopefully you wont burn the remaining starches....

I still need to experiment with optimal moisture content for vaped weed....

Nitegazer: Thanks for the thoughts, hadn't really started to go into depth on my thinking yet, this is good food for thought! I'm always surprised by how little I see vaping mentioned anywhere here. I'll probably end up curing anyway since like Dwezelitsame I like a little smoke now and then, and all this is for personal use only so I can try different things.

Dwezelitsame: snort :) I plan on getting a bag big enough for one of those jumbo 30 lb turkeys !

Bobham,

Here are some links you might want to start with...
Cannabis.com Vaporizer FAQ
Wiki- Vaporizer Particularly check out the Vapor Quality Section and Scientific Studies section.
More on Vaporizer Studies
Vaporization Temperatures Table

All pot users should read the information on vapor and marijuana smoke and health-- there are a lot of myths about how 'clean' vaporizing is, with many thinking that it is pure THC. There are still health risks associated with marijuana vapor, though they are much less than smoking pot.

thanks so much for the links, yeah is def better than smoking but hven't been able to afford enough to try cooking with it, with any luck now that I'm growing I can try butterizing it, although that has its own health risks too! :)

I had to look up my vaporizer, its an extreme Q v2, never used the whip.
The first time thru I vape at 383 F, thats one of its presets, I like that but my wife doesn't think its getting any so hers I have to go to 410 or something so she can see smoke. Lost my connection so haven't had any for like 5 months, which is why I decided to grow, she has bad panic attacks and ADD and it worked out much better for her than the prescriptions, wish we lived in a medical state!

I love using a vape for unfinished or shitty weed. There is a huge difference between fresh MJ in the vape vs. in the pipe. The only difference is that MJ that isn't finished curing isn't at peak potency. It takes the nice slow dry to completely decarbonize MJ and turn the THC-A to THC. So you might still get high without burning the crap out of your throught but the full potency won't be there yet, no matter what method you use to speed up this process (microwave, oven, etc...). Here's my homemade volcano, it's digital so I can set the temp and it's bigger for more people. Only cost 50 US Dollars to make.

No doubt about it - curing is well worth doing before vaporizing BUT you can take completely wet and fresh bud in the vaporizer and get very high from that - it even taste nice. I actually sometimes mix it with fresh peppermint cut up leafs. Gives a very pleasant "peppermint feel". Gets me very active.
But when i have my long-cured haze nothing beats that.
