Curing: Help my smell!

So, I've been curing some nuggets for over 2 weeks now, and I'm still not getting any of the sweet sweet skunky smell they had when growing, and the taste is a big 'meh'!

I thought I had done everything right - I flushed them for 3 weeks before harvest, only harvested when there was a mix of amber/clouds trichs, and dried hanging upside-down in a large cardboard box until the stems snapped.

They're all pretty 'dry' at this point in air-tight jars, but the smell and taste both don't really seem to be improving! Any thoughts?

depends on the strain. now that they are in the jars are you burping them? atleast 2-3 hours of fresh air 2-3 times a day that should make them cure at a good rate.some buds dont smell sweet but after 5 days of jar's i would test a bud see how it taste and see how it burns and you will know if its bomb.bongsmilie

I had been burping them once a day for 20 or so minutes for about two weeks now - do you think I'm just not letting them breathe enough?

Give them a few hours when you're burping, you want to make sure you have enough time to let the water vapor escape from the jar before closing it up to let it sweat again.

if you wanna try, lay your buds out on something and put em in a closet or something for 30mins or so. thats if they're really moist.

yea you need to let them go atleast a few hours and if you can a few times a day.my guess is they are curing very slow and smell that way due to heavy moisture in the buds.hope that helps.bongsmilie

Sounds good. I'm going to start letting them out at least an hour or two each day!

Yeah I have been having a similar problem. My harvest was picked about a week ago and manicured and is now sitting in cardboard tubes that lie horizontally. I chose them as they are porus and alow air to travel through but only make for slow drying. The weed looks good but the smell isn't developing like I had hoped, still smells like grass.

3 Days Later . . . .

I DO notice a difference!! The smoke is way less harsh, smell more potent, and no longer tastes like grass!

I'll have to take another sample in a few more days :)

Thanks!

do you cure while they are moist or after they have been dryed?
You cure them after you have dried the buds.curing is where you force the moisture out of the center of the buds and and distribute it trough out them.and you do this over and again and keep sweating them to remove the chlorophyl and give you a clean smoke.:blsmoke:

While curing, if you sprinkle PCP on the tops of the buds you will inhance not only the potency but the smoothness as well
